Hello my name is Ian and i have an r reg 540i and my windscreen wipers have packed up,now 2 weeks ago i had a diagnostics reading done and it could'nt show me where the problem was and i dont have a lot of money to spend on it as the mechanic did offer to take it apart and test various parts to what is wrong with it,so i do know its not the stalk and its not the motor as he did say that would have shown up so he did say it could be the...

Thanks for the reply. You're right about the 8 cylinder which is why I've ruled out the 540. Compared to a 17-year-old car, even 10 years old looks pretty new. My present car is about to need new brakes and I do wish for something a bit newer. Unfortunately, when buying older, used cars you have a limited selection (concerning the manual vs. automatic transmission). The car I had before was a 5-speed Honda Accord and it was fun to...

my first thread. 02 525i, my windshield washer doesn't work, no noise from under the hood. i suspect the washer pump but have on idea where it is. thank you for any help.

I'm not all that familiar with the 2000 5-series, I imagine they're good cars, so I'll just pass on a few personal musings, for whatever they're worth. First, if the present car is working just fine, why not just stay with it? The car would seem to have plenty of life in it, particularly in light of its being driven only 6000 miles/year, so proper care and maintenance should allow many more years with it. I'm not sure...

e34 1994 540i - transmission problem? Help
Hi,
Please help to figure out whats wrong here
Car starts to die sometime (it starts to happen pretty often now). While driving it starts to shake when a accelerating, and it cant get any more speed, it stops, check engine is flashing at that times.
Once going downhill i decided to put the car...

Guibo checks out OK - appears new.
Had someone ride with me - windows down - it appears the sound is more toward the rear of the car. Will check the rear-end for obvious issues today.
