guage cluster switch?

If you want to install the tach cluster you just need to switch it. You will just need to run a wire to the cluster and plug it in for the tach. Real simple.

Does anybody know if the wiring for a gen1 brat dl's gauge cluster wiring is substantially different from the gl? I know I would have to switch the dash, but would I have to go through a butt-load of wiring hell? I really want the tachometer and such

im new to this forum, just recently picked up a 1979 4x4 wagon. i drove it home 100 miles even though it was a little sketchy feeling. wanted to start working out bugs right away. the first thing that i noticed was a broken horizontal damper. the next was that there were no bolts holding the crossmember to the frame! i think the previous owner is retarded. he mustve pulled them all out to take off the brushguard. first off, im glad to be...

What is it?

While changing the struts, changing the xmission fluid and generally cleaning my brat, I found a broken thing. It is a flexible connection that looks like it runs from the top of the transmission to another cross bar that goes from the firewall to the engine. Mine seems to be broken just below the engne-firewall cross bar. What is it? What does it do? Should I be looking for a replacement? I'll try to post pix sometime in the next couple...

What happens if the one your going to get is beyond clean to the point its leaps and bounds cleaner than what you already started? Would there be changing of direction to use the one you have stripped down now as a parts car for that one or are you too far along now to go back?

So, first order of business was to get an exhaust system installed, as the PO had cut the old system out, leaving only the open header pipes. Loud little sucker! Supposedly the PO was planning to do some sort of dual exhaust and abandoned the project. Took it down and had a new system made up. Got a new Y pipe welded up to the stock header pipes and flanged right after the Y, so I would have a ...

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your purchase and dive into Subaru's. I am a Subaru enthusiast, however, I am not one of the more frequent posters on this board. I bought my first Subaru BRAT when I was 16, went 15 years without one, now I have a mint, original 79 brat and 2 1969 360's. On to the issues with your new found treasure. The hum is probably not the transmission, I...

I would drain the gas (subaru was smart there is a drain plug) and put some fresh gas in there. Unhook the fuel line from the car after having given it a oil change. Put a good battery in and feed that fuel line into a beer bottle or the like and crank it over a bit until clean gas (not yellowish) comes out the line. Then hook the line back up and give it a go. It might just start. Probably ...
