You are absolutely correct in that the sign is not legal and as such does not apply to someone carrying a
concealed weapon. If someone did notice that you were carrying they could probably ask you to leave but if you keep your concealed weapon concealed you will be ok and if you had to use it you would not be illegal in your carry.

"(S) Once a
concealed weapon permit holder is no longer a resident of this State or is no longer a qualified nonresident, his concealed weapon permit is void, and immediately must be surrendered to SLED."
This was taken from Section 23-31-215(S) of the S.C. Code of Laws.

I think it's pretty simple, you can't legally. Every judge and lawyer will laugh at you about the LEO's exclusion ... same with the judges and lawyers that work for the state, they get a 'get out of jail card for free.' It is our 'separate and not even close to equal'. system.

I'm not from SC but this is happening in a lot of
jurisdictions, and it looks to me like it's a matter of the agenda of the local (state) officials. If they support or are neutral, they have left the system to procure the local version of CCW (LTCH, etc) alone, or increased the number of people working on them due to the increase in requests.
