Yes I meant standing (oh = overhead). You cant throw a shotput straight forwards, it'll land on your toe! TBH in 4 weeks your better just trying to practice technique more than anything as this will make the most difference to a beginner.

Thanks for the reply.. So you reckon i should work on speed, interesting, as i was going to go all out powerr. so thanks for the advice On the single arm extension, is that lying down and pressing up..or standing and pressing horizontaly? I know the q' sounds stupid, but im thinking that if im lying down its going to work mainly my chest?

thought i might start a log for my training now. iv just got talked ing to doing the severn vally strongman comp on the 18th iv been helping to put together and competiting in the ironworx swindons strongest man on the 15th of aug and i enterd the reading strongest novice comp on the 30th of aug am i mad ?? anyway here is my log ifsa log 65kg 5x5 75kg 1x5 90kg 5x1 bench 60kg 5x3 70kg 5x3 80kg fail tri lock out 85kg-3 75kg-3 65kg-3 x 3 sets...

Im not sure if this is the right section, but shot requires strength and power so i guess its right. Well basically, today i found out i had been put forward for the shotput at my college sports day, because, and i quote, "i have the right physique" I.e. Pretty strong but with a layer of insulation over the top xD I was wondering if anyone has any tips as to ...

HI all first post so be nice , Just want to ask a few questions about going for a PL competition. First of all a bit of details I suppose I'm currently 89KG and bench 120kg, squat 170 and deadlift 200 all raw. Was wondering where to start to be honest I'm getting a bit confused as to which federation etc and being in North Wales didn't really want to travel ...

What are the typical event weights for a strong man competition? Im guessing there are different categories? Novice - Pro? What would be expected of a strong man for his first competition? Im not thinking of competing yet before anyone says 'you wont be ready for ten years, blah blah blah' Lol. Just trying to set some goals, Cheers Gaz

I basically have come to a conclusion nothing else helps my leg development like squatting. So I have pretty much just been squatting on my leg day, it works the quads and hams like no other exercise. I have been doing 1 high rep week, then 1 low rep week. But I am pretty sure I want to do a high rep day on a monday and a low rep day on a friday, i dont do ...

Was feeling pretty good today, so decided to try upping the weight a lil. Last week i managed to get 190kg, and today i managed to nail 200kg Not too shabby considering 4-5 weeks ago i was doing 140kg and my goal was to hit 200kg by xmas
