Will cost you about £35 to form a limited company. HOWEVER there are various reporting obligations, and you will probably need an accountant.

Your obligations are very similar to permanent staff. The difference will be that the contract will state it's duration, either as a period of time, or while particular work is completed. PM me if you want some help or a quote. Karl Limpert

Thanks for the advice, I shall advise my friend to make sure his paperwork is in order. To a certain extent he has already done this, hence any slight discrepancies in the versions of the story I have posted. He obviously did call her three or four times before writing the first letter, but had not got a satisfactory answer. Initially it appeared she was going through a genuine crisis, but when she didn't turn up on 10th November he...

I would assume that the car was VAT-qualifying (typically ex lease/rental). This will be stated on the supplier's invoice. If you would like me to check this through, PM me. Presumably the gross price (inc VAT) is what you agreed to pay? It is probably best to focus on how you are going to make repayments; most finance companies will be open to sensible repayment offers as it is seldom in ...

Change the locks - that will nip unaccompanied access in the bud, it's perfectly legal. Other than that whether or not a right of access is included in the contract, I would contend that it has no legal weight. Under a shorthold tenancy you have the right to quiet enjoyment of the property and I don't think that includes having strangers wandering around your house.

Hello. There are at least six tests that they can apply 1) Do you have signs advertising the business name? If so, take them down 2) Does the business advertise as trading from that address? Is it listed in the phone book? If so, stop this as soon as possible. 3) Is more than one signwritten van parked outside overnight? If so, then make sure than only one van is parked overnight. 4) Do ...

I'm afraid I think you have to have to rely on who you are dealing with to tell you if they can license you directly and to whom they have granted what representation rights. If the entity concerned has an agreement with its local collection society for royalties, however, that society may well have a reciprocal arrangement with a collection society here. I would to try to ensure that ...

You have 'passing off' where another brand is similar enough to prove confusion. However, this can be expensive to prove. Protecting a trademar is generally much easier (and cheaper) to do, although it has an upfront cost. It also gives you some better automatic rights with people like Google and Ebay, who will help protect a trademark, but not do much with an unregistered brand name.

I'm sure someone else made a similar thread a few weeks ago regarding recovery of goods from an address. If I recall correctly the upshot was that if the receiver knew the goods weren't theirs then it amounted to theft, so I'd say you have good grounds to pursue the eventual receiver of your missing items. If I get some time a little later I'll try and look up that thread for you.

1 - not abnormal at all 2 - no it won't - doubt he'll even know 3 - it won't weaken your case - they may get to know about it (especially if your current solicitor has been negotiating with theirs over settlement) 4 - If you could PM me your annual salary and/or legal budget, I know a couple of people who may be able to assist you.

Nothing so interesting as reading the legal section of UKBF. On the one hand you get employers saying staff had forfeited the right to their wages because they didn't collect the cash on a certain day, or docking £300 for various errors, and at the other extreme, something like this, where an employer continues to pay someone who has mysteriously disappeared for weeks on end without adequate ...

I'm no legal expert but I doubt a verbal offer from an ex employee would stand, it should have been in writing at the time. I think you have to accept two weeks and consider yourself lucky you got another 5 years with the company when others were let go.

To bring an action for slander requires lots & lots of money and can be very complex. Try not to worry too much and see http://www.contactlaw.co.uk/Lawyers-...n-slander.h tml . Is it likely that he has thousands of pounds spare to even get an action of the ground?

You should seek legal advice. Do you have an ownership clause in your T&C's. I would suggest you will fix it if they pay you in cash when you arrive.

There is a general assumption in law that people have the capacity to enter in to contracts. A lawyer can explain it better than I but if we were to suggest otherwise it would likely involve people like your relative having to wear badges that state they have learning difficulties etc. Have you contacted the gym? They may write it off as a goodwill gesture if the full facts are explained.
