Thank you both. Yes Safiyya, I do realise the networks have been trying to sort datafeeds out and am not "getting" at you in any way. I don't know how often White Stuff update their feed, but I note that they are not yet in the jewellery category. I look forward to seeing them there! I shall send an email with the other merchants who do not put their products into the right category and also a suggestion. Cheers Jill

Create a Feed is next to useless

Hi Aclements, Thanks for getting back about the product count discrepancies. How about a category just called 'Uncategorised' or 'Misc' that includes everything with a blank category. This way, if selecting specific categories, we can also have an option to include these products to manually map.

Follow ups do happen and not just via email. I leave lots of checkouts with half fulfilled orders as I test voucher codes (with my real contact details in) and I sometimes receive calls from the merchant to see if I'm having problems with the checkout or asking why I've not completed the purchase.

If there was an a4u prize for post of the year then this would get my vote. Straightforward, honest, factual and realistic - I must be on the wrong forum. The bell is tolling for VC sites IF this is the 'typical' merchant experience.

Hi confuscius Some merchants operate a wide variety of discount codes across their business. Some of these discount codes will be restricted to specific areas of their business, such as codes for use by employees, or codes that have been budgeted for use only by specific channels or alongside particular promotions. Merchants can decline commissions when these codes are used in conjunction with an affiliate sale. There are lots of retail...

after reading some of that I can totally understand what you have done and to be honest sounds the best option to drop vouchers fot the time being. Im also glad that a merchant has now made it clear on their feelings regarding how MVC, maybe other people that think they do nothing wrong will reconsider their stance/friendship

Sounds to me like the second reason- the order was accepted but the merchant won't pay the commission. If the code itself was unauthorised I don't think the sale would have gone through at all. Some merchants do this for big voucher codes. I don't think it's necessarily a voucher code site the customer got it from though. Sometimes merchants use large codes in print adverts or with ...

yep, not enough merchants have proper categorisation and AW 's categorisation isn't low level enough. niche sites are very hard with AW - webgains does, in fact, work better for this.

yep - afraid Sky has been playing this dodgy game for ages. I doubt anyone gets the commission when you're not last referrer. Helen promised to bring transparency to the whole situation but it hasn't happened - it's always 'not last referrer' or 'an upgrade'. What I've said many times is that it's the network that needs to make a stance with merchants like this. Sky, of course, is a huge ...

due to improper categorisation you need to take a leaf out of webgains book and get proper categorisation on the feeds. merchants are just shoving everything in the top level categories with 0 products in any drilldowned category - hopeless I'm afraid.
