Then that's what you might do; leash her to the tree, walk back to the truck and say load. If she hasn't barked to remind you by then, go back and do the other things you had been doing. Some young dogs are exceptionally tight mouth when the don't know what they're doing. But if she starts making alot of noise because you're gone, it MIGHT dawn on her it's ok to make noise while you're around. Since she...

quote: Originally posted by poolecw I agree, I went hunting with a guy who had a couple of those tracker lights and it really liked them. You can really sit up on the ridge and look at them work down below. And for $20, they be a lighted collar hands down. Yep that is what I use and can see them for a mile on flat ground. The batteries are $5.oo at walmart and last a long time.

I tie all mine, even Sandy who would heel on command and stay by my side no matter what until given the command to go huntin again.
The reason is as others have said, consistancy and having to leash them at a hunt. I also tie older dogs back away from the tree to give the younger dogs a chance to get in there and tree on the tree alone for a minute before I tie them back to see if ...

Not since , I set the younger game warden straight. He parked his truck in my gate to my pasture. When I came out , I got my tractor and chain and pulled it across the road to my barn lot. Waited on him, when he came out he was mad as a wet hen. I told him listen up , you park your truck in my gate again , I would call the sheriff to impound the parked truck on my property and charge him...

First of all, the opinions implied or conveyed on the show are not necessarily those held by the show itself, Tailgate Adventures LLC or it's sponsors.
With that said, we have no intention of censoring anyone's opinions unless they are too obscene or vulgar for National Television. The fact is that opinions are as much of this sport as anything, and that which drives us. If we are ...

not a thing is wrong.some dogs just act that way. it is a sign that they know who their master is. I would not worry about it. they may grow out of it, and they may not, but if not, and they hunt, what more can you ask.

Well said. And it doesn't mean you have to sacrafice anything but your time but as you stated you need many trips to the woods and some common sense. I hate to see pups sittin in a kennel or any dog for that matter. When it is too hot to hunt we walk our dogs or show thru the summer or water races and such.
