I already know how to make it sound older by taking the bass out and such, but how do you get that grainy effect (like on a vinyl record)? Is it an effect, a background recording or what?

Ok i have a stock PC and have been using fruity loops and cubase. I am using the ASIO drivers as this cuts latency. I always get the message flash up on my screen when I start Fruity Loops/Cubase or load certain instruments in it: ASIO DIRECT SOUND FULL DUPLEX DRIVER The currently installed soundcard driver does not support Direct Sound Input. Recording Audio is not possible. ...

I need help setting up a tiny home studio to record demos with. I have $600 to spend. Current gear Schecter C-1 Hellraiser Fender Jazz Bass Arts and Lutherie Acoustic guitar Pod XT Live I use Audacity. I understand that if the Pod XT live is plugged into something, then if that's plugged into the computer, it can get a pretty good sound. I don't know what it is though (Ima ...

Do you guys know if I can use Toneport with Amplitube, or Revalver? I'm buying a Toneport UX2 tomorrow, and I intend on using Amplitube alot, seeing as I don't have a mic yet. Also, do you know how well the latency is? I hear it's absolutely perfect. I just don't want to be stuck with shitty Line 6 Modeled tone, I'd rather use Amplitube to record. Input GREATLY appreciated ~Jess

Hello, just wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on my singing. -- In my profile under "Vocal Test" I've been singing for just over a year, before that I was too embarrassed and couldn't even sing with the radio in my car :-/...luckily I got over the fear, somewhat. Please let me know your honest opinions and if you have any pointers. Thanks!

When i write songs i use either slower riffs that consist of a fair amount of chords plaid in a more chunky-er progression and fast progressions that conist of few chords, and someone mentioned that because of that, the fact that some songs that ive written are pretty simple, and i don't like learning alot of other peoples songs, he says it just flat out means i suck, so i was wondering if it ...

Every so often I hear a band on UG with GREAT sound quality, and beautiful mixing. So I come with a question UGers, taking into mind I play metal, what is a great way to get BIG guitar sound? Not "bassy", not boomy, but DEEP, BIG. example: BlindedColony The only thing I know is use multiple mics to imitate a large orchestral effect, and get 2 perfect takes of the same rhythm, ...

I'm trying to record a song by plugging my guitar directly into my laptop. Unfortunately, the computer doesn't seem to be picking up my the signals from my guitar. When I try recording something, there's only silence. I've tried plugging it into both the mic input and the line-in input... Here's the funny thing. When I pull out the cable from the mic jack, the computer's built-in mic kicks in ...

Okay...so I'm looking at buying a nice mixer for my band with 10 mic inputs, so we can put together a nice little PA system. Want to recommend me some nice sounding, lower-end (CHEAP) mics? Here's what we need: -2 Vocal Mics -2 Guitar Mics -1 Bass Mic -Drums The drummer has a set with 2 bass drums, 3 toms, 1 floor tom, a snare, plus a ride/crash/splash/hi-hat/china cymbal set up....
