I think Lorax must have given it the old Ecudorian Maya/Inca spelling Ha Ha! Easy done in Latin America. Its good to have Silver Surfer to sort us all out. I have a couple of Euphorbia that I was given that I need to identify and if I get time at the weekend SS I would be grate ful if I post some pics if you could please identify them for me. Muchisimas Gracias!! Nath

Thanks, Susan! :) I don't always get them correctly identified, but I give it a shot. I just happened to have a couple of these. Yes, there are SO many in the genus! Looks like Sylvia hasn't been back to check for responses. I forgot to say earlier...if you got it from WalMart, chances are the tag (if it had one) said "cactus species".

E. tirucalli is toxic in and of itself, but I wouldn't worry too much about planting close to it. I use it as perimeter fencing and grow corn right up to within about a foot of it, with no ill effects to myself, the corn, or the cacti.

jades can be finicky when moved abruptly after being in one location for a good amount of time. they'll pout and drop leaves and then recover as they get acclimated. so, that's one thing going on - stress. stress can leave them open to other issues. you've also got bug infestation - possibly more than one type. can you post some pics so we can get a look at the bugs as well as over-all ...

In an emergency, you can re-pot into dry soil. Or, setting the root-ball on a stack of newspapers will act as sponge and help dry out the soil if left for a couple of days. If your pencil cactus (Euphorbia tirucalli) is "over-potted" (pot too large) the soil will stay wet longer which can cause root rot. Using clay pots with drain holes and fast draining cactus soil is best. Give the roots ...

Hi, Does anyone remember the poster with the awesome Schwarzkopf plant? Dark brown to black with big yellow flowers. It looked like a trio of a tree. Well I tracked the plant down at Ebay, it came well packed, cost me £8.I bought one for a friend too I was so impressed with our posters specimen. I must have done something wrong, maybe should'nt water over the top, too ...

I have not grown much Lithops, but as I remember my seedlings they were ball-shaped. Growth rate depends on temperature and light, but also on the species, some are painfully slow. My fastest grew to about 6 mm diameter in 6 months, but that was my first attempt and the conditions were not optimal. The shape of your seedlings could be due to lack of light, but I would wait for a month and see ...

I think one very important piece of information is missing: what species you grow. The plastic cover sounds like a very good idea.
