Either your posts are a brilliant level...or you just don't understand.

I'm not sure we agree on much else though, Charito. I think that counting backwards is just as valid as counting forwards and that there are two ways to count: in a line or around a circle.

This is sort of the approach that's usually taken, but engineers don't typically think about these things in terms of "evolution." It's basically an optimization problem, but the trick is that optimizing one for solution can lead to suboptimal conditions elsewhere. For instance: You want to grow an alga at large scale. Algae basically need light and CO2 to grow, and hey want to avoid O2. Your problem is to...

The prefrontal cortex has a good working realtionship with the rest of the brain. Reciprocal influence you might say. Let's say you think (prefrontal cortex) there might be danger, this heightens your fear from the limbic regions. Or let's say you get startled (limbic regions), but when you use some logic you manage to cool down. If you are referring to some Freudian subconscious, no proof of such a thing existing has ever been...

The idea involves the probability distribution of atoms (and of electrons in atoms). The probability of a single atom going 'through a wall' is low but possible...therefore the probability of an entire human walking through a wall is even lower (ie, there isn't enough time in the universe for this to have happened even once) but POSSIBLE.

So far, whatever my conscious mind says, goes.
Not sure what evidence of who's the boss could improve on that.

There was one a few years ago where a measure needed to pass in both the city and the surrounding areas. Somehow some group of ballots wasn't segregated properly. The final vote tally had the measure losing in bulk, but the TV talking heads were going crazy about the controversy, even after "a college math professor" called in to inform them that it was impossible for the measure to ...

I've scanned through some of it on my own, and I'm sure this is probably already noted on other web sites, but some of the interesting things I find in the email records are: several notes about deleting emails on certain topics to avoid FOI requests (UK)
lots of conversations about slanting things for certain audiences, which isn't necessarily dishonest by itself, but it kind of ...

I think I agree with you. Ocam's razor isn't really anything except a form of post confirmation bias and the fact that answers too simple that are wrong are easy to show as being wrong without needing to appeal to aesthetics
