Hi TT forums.
Also have an E2140, P5E Board, Asus EN8400GS. Standard
CPU Fan. Antec case w Power.
Hardware works well together. Mostly stable. WIN XP Pro. AI Suite is installed.
Planning to tweak machine temporarily for COD MF2.
Then reset the machine into it's normal settings when done.
I'm new to OC-ing. But want to boost performance enough to benchmark before the game arrives....

I haven't used that model of memory so I can't say for sure, but memory is often like processors and luck of the draw can often play a part in your overclocking efforts. Start mild and get more aggressive in your speeds and timings, then have the CMOS reset jumper ready for when it
craters.

You need to start over. Please go into the BIOS and load and apply optimized defaults, then set your ram voltage only and save/apply/reboot BACK to the BIOS. You will then need to set all your changed settings again as they will be reset. This includes, and do not forget especially if you are running RAID, SATA And Disk settings in Advanced BIOS, and Integrated
Peripherals page.
I can help...

I have my Q8200 running at a MILD OC at about 2.8Ghz. I just changed the FSB to what I needed and kept the RAM AT OR BELOW the
1066 (my RAM speed, your's may be different) and keep an eye on the CL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS (ie 5:5:5:15) and you should have no problem getting your Q8200 running at a higher frequency.
The Q8200 is better than some people say. Mine has been great!

I am not so sure if G31 will even hit 400 FSB or above and be stable, this is a very limited chipset on a even more limited board. I think if you want to go much higher you need a much better board such as P35 or
P45
If you want though, I can give you a set of settings to try for 425 or 450 FSB, but I really have to say again your board will be the limit here not anything else.
Can you ...
