although if you remove the leaf springs and replace with the coli overs you will need a panhard rod kit or watts linkage m8.good work tho m8 and keep at it,ive done a shit load of fooks up on mine and been helped out on this forum bud there really is a wealth of knowledge/knowhow on here if you need to ask questions 1st

Replaced plates that allow you to bolt cage to the floor water must of sat there for years and risted them.Cut off old plates and welded on new ones which i made yesterday.pics

multi-leafs can be more progressive than singles.. also some people drop a leaf ..add a leaf etc. to be honest, i've never cut a spring.. A because to me theres not enough length, the rollers centerline is the same as the bushes... so cut the bush housing and you inch to short for the rollers.

I've been thinking the same Graham but what would stop a sleeve from working loose. I was even thinking about a dissimilar rod. on one hand I think, I've seen worse. on the other the wife and kids in it. I think I might Jig up a TCA and shorten a volvo wishbone to suit . If only as a temp measure till I get the funds up for a lathe job and get a complete 1 piece plate made.

Thought I would put a wee bit up about my project. A 1973 Mk1 escort.
I got it about 9 years ago as a none runner after much head scratching it turned out the nice new shiny dizzy cap someone put on was infact the wrong one !!!
But the clutch was seized and while stripping it out I discovered a lot of bad...

The shell was delivered to me in late April after having been stripped by SPL, this is the first dip, which removes all the paint , filler, and shows where any suspect rust areas may be by letting the orange leach out.
The chassis will be re-dipped when its completed and then E-coated for full protection .

No, still at Spellers at the moment Joe. Last I saw the front wing and arches were off and the under side and engine bay were back to metal
I'm hopeful the "Linex" has been applied to the underside by the time I get home next week. It's a type of plastic/rubber coating that's chip proof. Don't think it's been done to a MKII before. Has a sort of orange peel finish so should look good and ...
