Thanks for the info! What exactly do I have to pop off to get to the 6 bolts? I have a silver trim around the stereo, is that what you are referring to?

It may be the belts...I know the Gen-1 Tundras had a similar issue and the solution was to switch belt brands. If it bothers you that much and you don't mind spending the $40 or so, switching belts will probably solve the problem.

Published (2009-12-08 11:00:00)
Hello all. Long time no post, I guess that's good because our '06 Highlander has been 100% problem-free! Until last night, when I was unloading our Christmas tree from the top of the vehicle (every year we buy one that's just too doggone big!) and when bringing it down, I lost control and the trunk of the Christmas Tree smacked the passenger side mirror and broke it! The "stem" where the mirror housing...

'08+ Tow package

04 with tow package here. I'm not sure if the factory tow package means a bigger radiator as with some cars and trucks (anyone know ?) but you can look for the trans. cooler just foward of the left front wheel behind the fender liner .....follow the plumbing from the radiator.

2004 Toyota Highlander, 6cyl, 96+k miles. I have noted the VSC light illuminate after a car wash and then "cure itself" as things dry out, but have never experienced what happened tonight. I drove to a restaurant about 15 miles away without incident, but when leaving about 2 hours later, the following happened. The VSC light illuminates and the wheels begin to lock up as if trying to prevent a skid, BUT on dry pavement....

Rear Window Falls Down, '03
Published (2009-12-13 08:40:00)
The rear right window on the wifes Highlander seems to have fallen off of the track. The motor runs but the window stays put. It does however slide down while she's driving it. Any tips on taking the door panel off and what parts could be broken? If I could pick up the parts before hand it will make the fix quiker. Thanks

Actually, that big center piece where the central air vent, and heater & A/C controller will pop right out just by pulling it outward with your fingers. Just be-careful not to yank it out too hard, but gently pull it out. 'Cos you have the plugs for the heater & A/C controller connect to it on top.

The same thing happened on my '04. My rear window was slipping down even though I could hear the motor working. The problem ended up being that the motor arm, which connects to window via a metal "track" on the bottom of the window, came loose. But the real problem was that the metal track on the bottom of the window was moved about 2 inches, which allowed the motor arm to slide right off the ...

We had a motorcyclist lane splitting at high speed take off our passenger mirror several years ago on our 05 Highlander. You're correct in that the whole mirror is a single part and has to be replaced. I think I paid $163 for a factory one. I was very pleased to find it already painted to match. So I guess you could find out how much the cost is to have the aftermarket ones painted. You ...

Hey there fish food. I just ran across your thread here. I hope I'm not too late. I see it's been a couple weeks since you asked about it.
I just installed one in my 03' and it is really easy. Just pop off the outer edge of the dash around the factory stereo. I used a knife with a rag around it (so as to not scratch it). Then there are 6 bolts you have to take out facing you when you look at ...

The most likely source of the noise is the accessory belt itself. There are several possible causes: belt is of poor design, tensioner is not getting enough tension on the belt, coolant was spilled on the belt/pulley, or the belt is mis-aligned.
When cold, the belt is a bit less pliable and "sticky". As it warms up, it will have more "traction" on the pulleys. The squeal is the belt ...

Common problem with Highlanders. Mine has never been hit and I have noticed on several sites that this is a problem on Highlanders. No recall was issued though.

I'd probably go with the TRZ's but the KR21's get good reviews too. I like tirerack, but with shipping and another 60 bucks for installation you might want to check out Costco or Sams and see what they have.

I actually have no heat. Just bought, tried heat couple days ago. Turned knob, never got heat. I've read all the different threads. Tried what each suggested, took unit out of dash, wires didn't appear to be broke. The board did look a little discolored. Could the board itself be the problem? What is the cost of the Temp control board? Are could it be something else?
Thanks,
Charlie
