2000 Tundra keeps dying
Published (2009-12-06 01:38:00)
When a battery is on its way out cold weather can be the nail in the coffin. Check both battery cables for loose connections and corrosion/dirt on the connections. I went through everything you describe with a 96 ford exploder, everybody said battery, I got a new battery. Problem was back within a week. Only happened every so often and seemed to happen when the engine was warmed up, shut off, and restarted. After much meditation I found out...

Alignment after new tires?
Published (2009-12-06 23:40:00)
My local Les Schwab will only charge if you need an alignment. You can go have it checked, if you don't need it you drive away happy. If you do need it done then you may be out of pocket a little money but you will be saving wear on your brand new tires. __________________ Rob K. 2006 DC, SR5, 4.7L, 5 speed, 4WD, LSD, Silver Sky Metallic, Keyless Entry, Tow Package Rackit (powder coated), Leer 100 w/Windoors, Westin wheel to wheel step...

Although the fit and finish of my Magnadrone system was pathetic, it did give a slight improvement in quarter mile time in my Gen 2 5.7....a bit more than a tenth. It seemed to be all gains in top end power with some loss in low speed torque. The Magnadrone system uses larger diameter tubing at 2.5" which will tend to improve top end power at the expense of low speed torque. __________________ Attention environmentalists, reduce...

Did anyone GAIN hp from exhaust...
Published (2009-12-06 23:44:00)
From what Ive been reading on here the last few days, most people that have installed an exhaust system, or changed out their muffler have stated that they felt a loss of power. Ive ordered a magnaflow muffler twice, but ended up canceling because im unsure of performance and sound results. Im one click away from ordering the gibson extreme dual kit, but I cant pull the trigger if this will actually decrease my hp/torque. Can anyone on here...

haha I have a 2003 Stepside as well...and want to eventually do the 2.5" lift up front and 1" block in the back so I can squeeze in 33s. I just got new tires so that wont be for a while...Im considering a Hellwig rear sway bar, or a new set of KMC Hoss 17" rims as my next upgrade.

I have the same setup you have. After I installed headers I could hear a loud tick. Was sure I had a leak, but I never found one. Found the seal on the steering shaft at cab was torn, letting the sound into the cab. However, I had no noise at the tail pipe.

If it's warm out, as long as it takes to put on my seatbelt and select a playlist from my IPOD, then I drive gently for the first minute or two. I dont sit there for more than about 30 seconds.
If it's cold out, might be 5 minutes or long enough to scrape snow or ice off and let the defrost clear the windshield if it's near freezing. 20 years ago ...

I have the wood grain in my 2000 from Toyota (it was the setup for the Limited). I do not

Sounds right. My dealer could not tell me if I had it either. He suggested doing a burnout and checking for two marks or one. With my new 33s, that's a negative. I hit the dirt and watched my driver side tire, didn't see any indication that it was burning out. So I have 1wd(open diff) as you likely do. As far as I know, most LSDs come on TRD models but only if you ask for it. If you have the ...

I hear yeah. It's funny though with the mud. I had a 1994 Toy pickup that was always mud caked underneath, but when I went to sell it I power washed it underneath and could believe how clean the frame stayed. LOL
Prob do it good to keep the mud on.

Some headers have bosses to use shields but they are in the minority. I have fabricated a hot air stove system for use with Hooker headers on an old big block Chevy so it can certainly be done.
