There is no way that Nog is getting caught in a gogoplata. His basic brazilian jiu-jitsu, his hand movement while inside guard, and his defense is world class.

My bad on the dates...that makes more sense, because WEC hasn't held Saturday night cards recently. Although I think they should in this case, at least as a distraction.

Dude, what are you smoking, the Riley Vs Gurgel fight was great. Bocek Vs Robinson and Stephens vs Dos Anjos were very technical, but slower and one sided (well it was one sided for Dos Anjos before Stephens decided to take a page off the Mortal Kombat book and finish him with the Scorpion uppercut). Riley and Gurgel was great. Jorge started off showing speed and good combos. But his lack of gas and poor game plan got the tides reversed by...

Is anybody else pissed that it looks like that fucking douche CB Dollaway is fighting AFTER Wandy/Page III? He barely belongs on the main card, let alone after that significant of a fight. Hell, I'd rather see the Okami/Lister snorefest or Hardonk beat on a can than see Dollaway again.

Predictions for 2009
Published (2008-12-03 00:37:00)
'09 will be a bad year for the UFC. Average fans will lose interest in the most recognizable division, Light Heavyweight. Machida will win the belt for 205, outclassing all his opponents in typical Machida-controversially-boring-esque fashion. People will think the 205 division is uninteresting because an unfamiliar Brazilian with an unorthodox style is dominating it. Chuck Liddell will get beaten and retire. Anderson Silva will retire....

Michael Rome over on Bloody Elbow has a piece up on his predictions for the coming year. He focuses on Zuffa but this thread isn't limited to just the UFC and WEC. Anything MMA/BJJ is fine to speculate on. List your own or debate his. Either way works for me, but if you're going to make your own try and make a couple instead of just posting one. Quote: ...

WEC 38, January 25th We've got Faber/Pulver II and possibly Mike Brown vs Leonard Garcia. I hope Urijah and Jens can bang it out like they did last time, except for three rounds and not five. If the Brown/Garcia fight is finalized, I'll go ahead and say Garcia for the win . Said it before, I'll say it again: hot diggity-damn, I love the WEC!

Alright, now that 91 is over it's time to move on to the next big event, WEC 37, which has a ridiculously deep card for those of us who pay attention to the lighter weight classes: Main Card * Miguel Torres vs. Manny Tapia (for bantamweight title) * Brian Bowles vs. Will Ribeiro * Wagnney Fabiano vs. Akitoshi Tamura * Joseph Benavidez vs. Danny Martinez ...

I got exactly one free class in at Alliance here in Atlanta before the wife nixed continuation due to financial reasons. We've agreed that it will be on hold for at least half of the year, but I'm still kind of following the sport and trying to learn. http://www.xarm.com/ This is going to need its own thread. Possibly it's own board. The greatest sport to ever be created. Have you ever thought while watching MMA "Man i wish there was some armwrestling in this." Well now you have it. Extreme MMA Armwrestling. Created by Art Davie the creator of the UFC.
