I could'nt figure out why a company would be letting casual drivers go,they really are'nt costing the company much money when they're not working (no benefits etc.)while retaining a flexable and ready trained group of workers.

One of the things that I, and others, have mentioned to our safety guy was for OD to develop a outline, guide, template or whatever you want to call it to put some uniformity in the training program. The classroom part has it. Why not the road part? Not that anyone is wrong or always right but there seems to be a lot of variation to the training based on the...

We had a guy get taxes and child support deducted on his one year of no wrecks bonus. Poor fellow.. wasn't much left.

The fact that we are still getting a bonus at all considering the what's going on with some of the other carriers just proves to me that the company is trying to do right by its employees. They could've jumped on the cut, cut, cut bandwagon along with everyone else, Makes me wanna dance, Lol.

Hard to keep casuals though when full time guys can't run everyday. Don't know if they have eliminated them or not but if your a casual driver anywhere for anyone at this time you better be expecting this to come sooner or later.

Very sound advice Jim Bob!! Don't give anyone an excuse to take a second look at you. Keep your profile low, do your job without incident and you'll be all the better for it.

Appears to be a good move, with YRC closing the Reimer Express terminal in Edmonton. Alberta has a vibrant energy industry could mean not only good tonnage, might be healthy demand for our higher revenue expedited services

No not by a long shot. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in tractor speed what so ever. Mine runs a shade shy of 65, there are others (our SC included) where they seem to have overlooked some of them and they'll still get by you and disappear.
