grand oasis cancun vs grand osis...

The Grand Viva Beach hands down. The Viva beach is on the North end of Cancun where the Ocean is much, much calmer and shallow. Perfect for the kids, plus you can walk to the shopping, ect. Also, the Grand Oasis Cancun is on the property of the Oasis Cancun, which is total party city. Wouldnt want my kids around them.

How intense is the sun?

I am fair skinned but never use super high SPF sunscreen. Be cautious in sun exposure, wear shirts, hats, etc. Stay under shade instead of lying in the sun.

Weather at EPM/Cancun
Published (2009-11-26 14:25:00)
Hi Try to avoid looking at weather forecasts but look at satellite imagery instead at that shows what is going on - see link below to a good site www.wunderground.com/tropical/… It does not look too bad at the moment but it can rain in Mexico Edited: 2:26 pm, yesterday

Thanks Joy. Real soon. Jrodnick: I'd pick the Tequila even though it's not on the beach. It's a short walk across the street to the Yucatan's beach and you can use all their facilities except dinner. It's a Riu Club Hotel and they're known for fun, fun, fun.

Weather?
Published (2009-11-26 23:38:00)
You guys are obssessing over the wrong info. What can I or anyone else say to convince you these weather forecasts are bogus? OK, if a hurricane or tropical depression is going through the area than Playa will get rain, but that season is pretty much over. You will love the 5 to 15 minute rainfalls they may get. They don't last long and the rainbows are magnificant.

IMO, you can never over protect your credit card. Even when protesting an unauthorized charge this can have an impact on your credit rating/score. This has happened to us and while the charge was taken care off we had to cancel that card and get a new one.

Beach was gone
Published (2009-11-26 23:03:00)
I would still go to cancun if they didnt have any beach. And if anyone wants a beach thenn why not go to maroma in the riviera. If the only thing you want is a beach then being 20 mins from playa and 40 from cancun should not bother you. There are options and cancuns beaches are being restored. Some people will cancel but where one cancels 10 more book so who cares, its their loss. And to the OP I heard the ritz had a bad beach recently but...

Weather at EPM/Cancun
Published (2009-11-26 13:34:00)
We were at SMB last Dec. (same dates) and we did not have 1 drop of rain. It is not my favorite weather in Mexico -- I like it very hot and the pools are too cold for me. The temp was about 80* - 85*.

Hi! Was there last week, beautiful weather. I am also fair skin and burn easily. The first few days I used SPF 45, stayed under a palapa most of the time, being sure to reapply often, still got a little pink, I guess from being in the water. I ended up using my SPF 70 the rest of the week. There is nothing worse for me than getting sun burned the first few days of vacation. Have a ...

Taxis from the hotel back to the airport may indeed be less expensive than a private transfer but from the airport to your resort, I think a private transfer is the cheaper option. This is because taxis picking people up from the airport have to pay a special tariff, which they pass along to you. Taxis dropping people off aren't subject to this tariff. The five private ...

Generally in the 80's during the day and cool at night, (I need a sweater). I also find that during that time of the year, for some reason..., it seems that that intermittent clouds start rolling thru around noon and it doesnt become totally clear again until around 5pm, just in time for the sun to go down! Also, you should be ready for cold pools, (short days and cool nights...

If you can't find something before you get to Playa, go to Zingara (on 5th Ave). They have some great swimsuits. A little pricey but nice.

Before I became PADI certified I tried a few of those free pool lessons at a couple different resorts and I don't think they offer near enough information to prepare you for a dive. I agree with the above poster recommending a certification course at home and then open water dives in PDC. Professional instruction is the safest way to go, IMHO. Go ahead and try one of the pool ...

I think you will find it is still excellent, and i don't think you should be worrying yourself. I have just read the review titled 'terrifying' and find it extremely hard to believe that if such a thing happened that the staff at this extremely highly rated hotel would be so unhelpful, its beyond belief to me.
