It looks like a lot of individuals are caught up in this dreadful mess. Some deposits on developments have not been returned even though building has halted. Companies awaiting payment on invoices and services, are nearing bankruptcy. It is maddening when it is the private individual at the bottom who suffers . In a country where not honouring a cheque can result in a jail sentence how can the Ruling Family/Government renege on deals. I am...

The Dubai Royal family have been more shrewd than people give them credit for so I expect them to come through.
Probably means they will not buy Liverpool FC!

If you are in Abu Dhabi at this time, head to the Corniche and the action starts after dark. You will see cars draped with UAE flags (many private cars and taxis are decorated with flags - expatriates celebrate almost as much as locals). There's usually a lot of idiotic driving too.
Buildings and main streets are brightly lit, including different symbols of the UAE and '38' (the...

Many thanks! Does the HoHo bus come anywhere near the cruise terminal or would you have to catch a taxi to the stop? Is there any other place you would recommend visiting? How far is the nearest good beach from the port please?

I found it pretty cheap really, far cheaper than in the Uk at a good hotel def no hiked up prices have a look at the menus when you arrive and also perhaps at other hotels. Your concierge can help with getting menus for other hotels, most will be buffets and they are absoutely fine and have more or less anything that you have in the UK.
For me the day was nice as we went to ...

Excellent trip report. Have a few question about the fountains. I am staying in Festival City for a week in March (my first visit to Dubai ) and would like to visit the fountains. How did you travel to the fountains from Festival City? What time do the fountains start, when did you leave Festival City? Where is the best place to view the fountains? If this is inside in a restaurant, do...

Le Meridien Dubai is across the road from the airport, has 3 lovely pools and huge gardens to walk around in.
I wouldnt be swayed by a free airport shuttle either as taxi's are very cheap in Dubai .
