Not too bad a location. You're about a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the river (Si Phraya/River City express boat pier). If you got on the Chao Phraya Express there, you'd be quite quickly at Tha Chang, the pier for Grand Palace. You're close to an MRT station, Somyan, which in turn is one stop away from the BTS Skytrain interchange at Silom/Sala Daeng and access to the malls including MBK. And you're in a neighbourhood...

Midman, I can't tell you the average price as I explained previously it depends on the design and the material - and there is a huge range from lihjtweight to heavyweight, wools, linens, man mades and mixes but certainly for what I have had made and my wife it has been significantly cheaper than in UK, especially if you are having suits/shirts etc. made to a pattern you have brought with you or selected from designer books in the shop.

Yes Northumbrian , I was there for the whole duration. I flew up fromPhuket on 25 November and on the morning of the 26th I was up with the larks to go to the airport. The first I knew at 5.30 in the morning was when the taxi driver told me 'No can do' he said '.'Suvarnabhumi it closed'. The upshot was that for the next 10 days until I left, on 6th December, the hotel was paid for by Tourism Of Thailand (TOT). My...

Have you considered any of the many place in Thailand apart from the beaches? We have 76 very diverse and interesting provinces, most of which are rarely visited by tourists, and you are missing a lot by just looking at sand (even thougth that can be nice). Chiangmai and Mae Hon son, are obvious alternativs, quite different to the south; then there are som very picturesque places like Phrae, Uttradit, Chaiyaphum, Petchabun, Kanchabui,...

Might have been more appropriate to the Bangkok Forum. As with many other protests, unllkely to affect tourists apart from even larger traffic jams. I'm sure one poster will come up with a reason to spread panic of civil war, end of civilisation as we know it etc.

If it is a regular ferry it will dock at Rassade Pier. There are plenty of taxi's/tuktuks there, but you have to agree on a price before getting in.
:aguna is pretty far from most places on the island, including Rassada Pier, so it won't be cheap, a rough guess: 800 Baht.

With a 1500 THB budget you may have trouble finding a trluy "beachfront " bungalow on Koh Samui .
There are some places on Lamai beach that may suit, with restaurants and bars nearby, but probably not true beachfront. Pretty darn close though.
Since you have 3 weeks available why not try Koh Phangan for a while.
Maybe Tong Nai Pan beaches? Its like Samui ten years ago....

The departure tax was included in your Bangkok to Taipei airfare when you bought your ticket. You won't have to pay it when you are in Bangkok.
There is no program to get it refunded that I am aware of, as you do technically "enter" Thailand when you clear customs to check in for your Air Asia flight.

I don't know how accurate or real this weather forecast is, but at least it is from Koh Lanta (and not Krabi or Phuket like usually the weather forecasts ): www.windfinder.com/forecast/ko_lanta_yai
Maybe someone who NOW in Koh Lanta can tell how real this weather forecast is.

I've been through that airport probably 20 times since it opened in September 2 years ago, with no problems whatsoever.
As long as you don't make a stupid attempt at trying to shoplift at the King Power Duty Free store, you too will have no problems.

Hi,
For the most part the it's simply a border town with not a whole lot beyond that for the average tourist.. I've used it many times for Thai/ Cambodia crossings and in those cases where I've had to or chosen to overnight, I did so on the Cambodian side of the border.. This was based on the fact that (with the casinos and such) there are many more lodging options than on ...

Hi Iminat,
There are many massage places on the beach with body massages from 250thb.
However if you come out of the main entrance to Sala and turn left there is a parlour called Anyaaporn (don't be put off by the name, many thai names end in porn for some reason). They charge 100thb more than beach but it is more civilised.
There are some nice ...

I like Smile Dental Clinic, which is just next to Bangkok Phuket Hospital (the big international hospital), in Phuket town. The doctor, Doctor Ooud, is very good. I live in Phuket and he is a favorite amongst the foreigners I know here. I dont go to Patong to get any dental or medical work done, all the best hospitals and everything are in Phuket Town.

Hi,
I'll take a stab at this.. In my mind, your best defense of course is using smart common sense.. As far as physical places that you don't want to be-- it's my opinion that some-- or even lots of them are not places that you as a tourist would easily or normally find yourself in the first place.. for the most part the places you're most likely to visit will be nor more ...

Millions of people use Air Asia, it is perfectly safe to book with them online, and can save you mega $$ compared with "full' service airlines.
