Skiathos is always extremely busy in July and August when the island can be packed to the rafters with lots of nationalities taking their annual holidays. This year it seems it was THE place to be seen by the young folks from the mainland. The island has always been a tad more expensive than other isles and I don't think this will change - not sure if any of this was due to the Mamma Mia affect really as Skolelos was the starring isle....

I second what Skiathoslover says. I have stayed in both and they are a good pick. Agia Paraskevi is my fav as its about 1/2 way down the road so easy to get up and down on the bus. it has lots of good tavernas and a good beach, nearly all accommodations off the main road so a quiet night is almost guaranteed .

We think that the person who is a resident and has posted this personal attack is completely out of order. The owners of Perigiali manage our villa and do so quite wonderfully. Their attention to detail and cleaning standards are impeccable. They go the extra mile to keep our guests happy. They are hard working and honourable. To have a dig like this when the writer is not a customer is terrible and you should be ashamed of yourselves. They...

Thanks for your advice. We went to skopelos on a day trip - not sure i'd want to stay for 2 weeks though, not sure there would be enough to do. Thats the other thing i am worried about - if we do go somewhere else will we like it as much. We really do love Skiathos but have heard it has become more crowded and expensive after mamma mia.

Hi Sarah- not an island but have you checked out Parga ? Quite a few people compare it with Skiathos /Skopelos- lively at night, beaches close by and lots of different nationalities.

Happy go lucky couple in there 40s in need of a relaxing break in Mid -June. No kids on this trip,both appreciate good Greek food but would prefer a quite resort where a good nights sleep is the norm. Which resort in Skiathos would suite ? Noodles x
