Without knowing more about your interests and the time of your trip, I'll start with these: Boat to Ft Sumter www.spiritlinecruises.com/sumter_overview.asp USS Yorktown http://www.patriotspoint.org/ The Hunley http://www.thehunley.com/index.dwt If you are here in warm weather, you can spend some time at Folly Beach, where the surfers go. Be sure to spend some time at one of the local beaches - Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island or Folly Beach. Even tho the carriage ride seems a little cliche, most teens enjoy them.

Shrimp and Grits WITHOUT Red Meat?
Published (2009-12-28 23:29:00)
Delicioso! Just had my first shrimp and grits after returning to this part of the country after 15+ years! I mentioned not eating red meat (this includes pork, in my book) and they said everything is made to order and they would leave it out. We had it at Station 22 on Sullivan's and it was fantastic! An addeed plus was that all bottled wine was $10 off tonight (and Sunday). I will follow up with a full trip report soon!

Thank-you - I appreciate your feedback on my other thread. Now that I've narrowed down my choices based on all that great feedback I posted this question in hopes of getting additional opinions about this specific issue from others who have spent time on Kiawah.

Kiawah Island Getaways is a family-run business. They own, renovate, maintain, manage, and rent the homes that they own. Their condos are "very pricey", but I am sure that they are very nice. I believe that one of the owners of KI Getaways participates on TA. Hopefully, that person will respond, or send you a private message.

There are some great shops they will enjoy on King Street between Hassell (pronounced like Hazel) and Calhoun Streets. They are geared toward the College of Charleston students. What time of year will you be arriving? Any special interests?

You mean coupons? Two for one deals? Visitors' centre may have some; other than that google coupons/restaurants/ North Myrtle Beach . More in January; this is still Xmas/New Year season..... You could also check franchises: Appleby's etc. if any coupons are valid...
Sorry if I am not answering about "dealers",,,,

The nicer restaurants may be able to make it to your specs. The gravy is usually on top of the dish so you could just ask for no gravy.

Folly Beach near Charleston would be perfect for a young couple. Lot of younger crowd and places to eat with entertainment.

Monterey Bay is a nice place (in the north end) & a great value, but, unfortunately, not very close to a fishing pier. Springmaid Pier is in the opposite (south) end of MB. It's not necessary to stay at the Springmaid Resorts to use it; there are quite a few properties within walking distance & you just pay a slight admission if not a Springmaid guest. Check a map of MB, but Crown Reef ...

You said you're not beach people, but it is on the beach you will feel relief from the heat. There are almost constant breezes and you don't notice humidity. Cool off in the water and you're good to go.
Hopefully the reason you're not beach people is you haven't been to beaches as nice as those around Charleston ! Give it a try - you might be surprised!

Well, first of all, expect the temps to be high but chance of rain to be high, too. (near 70 degrees; 40% chance of T-storms is the latest report). I heard this morning that last year it was almost 80 on Christmas here - I had forgotten that!

What a wonderful husband!!!
Start by taking a carriage ride or if the weather gets too bad, go to the Visitors Center and catch a bus tour through the historical district. Since you only have 2 1/2 days (you will want to come back!), you might stay downtown in the historical district except for James Island Co. Park lights and for the dinner at Mustard Seed. There is so much ...
