PDLC question
Published (2009-11-24 18:54:00)
Yes, there are scores of taxis at the cruise terminal who'd willingly take your money for a ride to Pie de la Cuesta; but my advice would be to prearrange the ride, in advance, with a private driver. This can be easily done via email ... if it interests you.

That's the wonderful thing about cruisers is they won't pay for food since they get fed onboard their ship, but they do sometimes look for drink deals because they get gouged on them pretty severely. I just remember one year staying at Las Flores and the beach and hotel was always empty that year, and then one day a week it was like a convention came to town. I think there are certain hotels that make agreements with the cruise...

Seriously, it is the best! Nothing better than going back home and not having to do laundry! and the smell..... heavenly! I used to keep everything in the bag and just take sniffs whenever I wanted to be transported back to Vallarta :) Plus the laundry is really inexpensive.... and they do it all for you :)

When we go on day trips all we take are pareos! They are lovely and light, and work great- and they dry very quickly. And they work as cover-ups too. Edited: 9:19 pm, November 25, 2009

Funny Steve, I was thinking the same thing before I read your post! None. But if you have to go, Roqueta is it! Don't some Scuba near/at Caleta? I thought there was some snorkel deal there at one time too....

When we were there this past late Oct...there was no H1N1 that we knew of.....the subject never came up. We flew back Nov 1st to Victoria BC where it as closing schools. Our son had it (he was not in Puerto Vallarta ) and half the school (1200 kids) were down with it.
My husband smokes a little and at both hotels (Dreams Villa Magne and Playa Los Arcos) he had no problem ...

The last couple of years they have also had fireworks on the Malecon so you should get a good view from Howard Johnsons for that as well.

I've only hit small beaches, Maguey , La Entrega, Chahue and Santa Cruz, no shells that I recall. I'm a rock fan though! After spending a day at the beach I always have a big mitt full of rocks to lug home.

Have you tried asking your TA/Orbitz to re-issue your plane tickets- it is just your airline reservations that matter, not the hotel.

I agree, just use your ATM card to get pesos in Mexico. You get a better rate than at the casa de cambios that way, and it's easy. If you have a hotel safe, take out larger amounts at a time to reduce the service charges.
Most Mexican ATMs will say there is a daily limit of 4000 or so pesos, but we seem to always manage to get 6000 at a time. :)

We very much liked Casa de Ensueno...and it is only $500 a week. There is the main house and 4 units.
Private (as in, it is behind the wall/door) larger plunge pool, with rock waterfall, about 12 feet by 8 (about?)
It is in the south end of town.

What is true is that Mexican's like to vacation just like we do. Many that live in Guadalajara , Mexico City and most other cities inlnad will either drive, fly or take one of the long distance buses to the beach for vacation, especially on long vacations. Some of these people have their second or third homes here, others head to a resort for a few days or a few weeks.
I ...

Carey - have you lost your mind? First thing you do is accuse the OP of lying. They then explain themself (I can't even begin to understand their need to appease people accusing them of lying, but whatever) and you just rip on them a little bit more. They stated facts - and all you did was rip them apart.

We're right there with you. We have only three more sleeps to go, and I am just as restless and anxious. I have to find things to do for the next few days, since I'm already packed. Maybe I'll just go sit outside and wait for the car to pick us up. LOL

There was an older couple (i.e. 70s) ahead of us at Customs. Same issue as you had. They come to PV for a month every year. They had 2 sets of golf clubs, 4 suitcases, and several bags/bundles. They were really unhappy that no porters were allowed. It took them forever to push/wheel all their stuff through the line. (And not making many friends with the people behind them with how long ...

I want to vote too! ;-)) (per what KansasPVgal said).
Frankly (and it may just be me ---- but I took the AARP defensive driving class and I'm sure they would say the same thing), I never drive at night in an area in which I'm unfamiliar, if I have a choice. It doesn't make sense. I don't even drive in the SF Bay Area at night, unless it's my little neighborhood.
It's ...

You see the locals use sraight hooks that look alot like what we call a siwash. No bogger than a 1/0, I'd guess a size 3 or 4 is about right. You rig with your lead on the bottom and then tie a loop only a few inches long and loop the eye of your hook in. I've seen up to 4 hooks per line but 2 seems to work best. For that type of fishing any monofilament or braid will work.

It's your vacation and no time is too early to go to PDLC as far as I am concerned. If they are not quite set up yet you could still just relax and take some picture until they are ready.
Everything is done at it's own pace here as well as in the city so just relax and have a great time. I usually plan closer to 11am for my days here but whatever you prefer is just fine.

AND take school supplies whenever you go to PV and distribute on the beach or downtown or give to a neighborhood school.
