Thank you so much for so many details!! The largest beach in ohio sounds great!!! The numerous steps with 4 kids don't, lol......the fairport harbor sounded nice to see the lighthouses because i LOVE to tour lighthousees! Worth a drive to me, but my gps only said 54 minutes for that route i think. I'm going to look into the Lorain Lighthouse, i didn't even know there was a closer lighthouse tour. a trip to the lighthouse by...

Crosswoods sounds interesting. I'll check that out too. I've noticed a couple of hotels in Old Worthington. Is that a nice area? Safe (-ish)? Thanks for your input!

Where Best to stay
Published (2009-11-13 11:15:00)
There is no bus service in Sandusky nor are you going to get to Cleveland by any public transportation. If you do not have a car look for a hotel that my provide shuttle service to Cedar Point. Can't think of any that do, but I'm sure some may. A taxi could prove to be expensive. Your best bet is to stay on the grounds.

There is an Archiver's store (strictly for scrapbooking) near the North Olmsted mall, just south of Westlake off Lorain Avenue

Downtown vs. Newport/Covington
Published (2009-11-11 13:05:00)
You will be able to find what you've looking for near either hotel but the Comfort Inn is within easy walking distance of both Hofbrau Newport (very good beer and atmosphere but little in the way of TV's) and Arnie's (a better than average sports bar). There are plenty of eating options in the vicinity as well. Both of the above can also be reached from the Millennium and downtown Cincinnati via the South Bank Shuttle (operated...

Can't give any local info re: bedbugs and obviously can't guarantee there won't be any. What I can offer/suggest, is that you read (most/all) of the other reviews - at least those that are for stays in the last few months or so - before making your decision. I'm not saying this review is made up, but It is not rare to see anomalous reviews on TA. There's a lot of different reasons for these and I won't go into...

I like the icewine suggestion but that could be difficult to transport; you'd have to pack it very carefully and safely and put it in your checked luggage; you can't board with it. Alternately, the museum gift shop does have some very nice things so that would be a great 2nd choice.

Week of New Years.

there's not alot to "do" in Hocking Hills per se. It's an area for hiking. We've been in the winter and really enjoyed the snowy scenes. Most of the cabins there have hot tubs and fire places. Makes for a romantic weekend if that is your goal. My favorite places to stay in the area: http://www.heritagecabin.com/ You might check this site to see if there's anything going on: http://www.hockinghills.com/

I am thinking about museum center, P&G hall has a Chritsmas show, Levvee shops, and Carew Tower. Sign Museum closed today--looked interesting. Unfortunately, a few things I would really like to see are not available Monday, and shorter hours Sunday. To top it all off, I forgot about the 3:30 OSU game today, about the time I'll be passing through Columbus , people will be lining ...

Wow. They look just like the "town centers" and malls here. All the same stuff. Still, I suppose I'll know what I'm getting if I stay there. Thanks again for the tip. Are there parts of Columbus that are "real" Columbus, though? With locally owned/operated shops and restaurants in the same neighborhood as hotels?

What about a cruise? Check travelocity.com amongst many other places for options. Do an advanced search with your possible departure dates. Have you ever been to New Orleans ? Consider a train trip from Cincinnati to Chicago and then on to New Orleans (the latter leg in a sleeper compartment and then a flight back home). One can visit New Orleans on a reasonable budget and ...

USA3000 is who I usually use. They have flights on Saturdays to/from Columbus , and on Tuesdays and Saturdays to/from Cincinnati. You can book directly through the airline, or go through a tour company like Apple or Funjet.

Thank you for the info. Sounds like a great idea to take the bus to NKU and take a cab back. If I'm reading the map correctly I should pick up the bus at 4th and Main (B) and take it to NKU Kenton at Campbell (F). Should be $1.50 each with no transfers. Does that sound correct?

We went to the IMAX there a few months ago, paid cash, but looked at the little gift shop there, too. With some of the prices, I'm pretty sure they'll take credit cards, but I think entrance to the museum is free. Here's their link.... http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/

The closest beach is Huntington Beach located north of Westlake - you could also visit the Sandusky area , where Cedar Point is located and they have a very nice beach, and a waterpark. There are also nice Beaches in the cities of Vermillon and Huron
