I would secure your campervan first. If you are not already booked for this period, where to park it may well be academic!

There are several hop on hop off options, where you do a circuit of the South Island , stop off as required, then get on another bus the next day or day after . Passes are valid for a resonable time. check Intercity Stray magic Kiwi Experience they are the main operators and tat gives you a choice

Because you are here at the very best time of the year, I would spend 2 weeks in the North and 2 weeks in the south. It is the height of our summer with briliiant blue skies and sunny warm days and the North Island has some fantastic coastal scenery and golden sand beaches. To make the best use of your time plan to fly into Auckland , then maybe 2-3 days up north and then make your way south crossing over to the South Island on the ferry from...

Firstly, great news that you have almost a month to devote to our country. You should be able to do quite a bit in that time. How much time you spend on each island however depends on your interests. Do you intend on hiring a car for that whole time, and if so are you happy to drive every 1-3 days in order to see as much as possible. Or alternatively would you prefer to base yourself in about half a dozen places where you won't see as...

The tours at the Bay of Islands were reduced during the winter. As I recall some of the restaurants and shops were closed as well. From your photo, I think you will want to see the Waitangi Treaty Site there--very interesting.

A gentle walk is along the lakeside towards waterfall creek - a nice one to do when you first arrive in Wanaka to stretch the legs after driving. The walk takes you past the Edgewater Resort which is a great place to soak up the lakes and mountains over a drink, then walk on to Rippon vineyard, and sample some of their fantastic wines. Slightly further on is Waterfall Creek, then you turn around and wander back. For stunning views, try...

I think Hokitika would be worth a stopover as would a place like Lake Paringa. There might even be Farm stays worth looking into around places like Ross or Whataroa.

KT from NC if you are going to quote from the NZ Immigration website please at least get the quote in its entirity and not piecemeal as ypu have done. The little asterisks beside the names of the countries indicated mean that there are special conditions attached to them and should be read in conjunction with the list of countries. When a visitor arrives at the border they are required to fill out a questionaire and as a result of answers...

Keep in mind that NZ is a long country, and the temperatures and climate vary about 10 degrees from north to south.
We went at the end of March-beginning April, and the temperatures were pleasant, although cool in the deep south. It was a good choice for us. I suspect that Oct ...

Hi there,
Unfortunately I think your plan only allows for a lot of driving and not much sightseeing. I definitely wouldn't recommend trying to drive up to the Bay of Islands one day and then down to Rotorua the next. Similarly, you won't see much of the Coromandel in one day.
Is there a reason you have chosen to spend 2-3 days in Christchurch ? I'm assuming that it's because ...

Hi there,
Even when you book all the flights through a travel agent it is not necessarily guaranteed that the internal airline will be affiliated with the one that gets you from NZ to the U.S. You could probably ask for this to be the case, however, it would mean limiting your choice of airlines even further and could possibly bump up the prices. Perhaps you could talk to a travel ...

Hi there,
I'm not too much of an expert on the South island, particularly the upper West Coast, however I must admit that I am finding your itinerary a little confusing. You seem to zig-zag across the island, particularly by coming to Amberley in the middle. This will be time consuming.
Have you considered starting your journey by travelling from Christchurch to Lake ...

Hi there.
Your South Island itinerary isn't too bad, however, your time in the North Island is very rushed.
Two things I would suggest is:
a) Skip out the extra time at Milford. While it is lovely out there, it is also very isolated with little to do in the evenings. On Day 7 drive to Milford, do the cruise, then drive back to Te Anau. Then on day 8 drive straight to ...

Generally supermarkets do not sell books, just magazines. The first discount book store will be in the airport you arrive in! all shoppping malls have discount book stores, usually with tables of 'specials out the front. The prices and selection will be better in the cities, but ok in the towns. The chains are Whitcouls, paper plus, Books and Moore and The Wharehouse. Probably lots of ...

Your itinerary looks fine, just take it easy and as it comes.
The train runs all year round but doesnt keep good time due to track and train delays so an hour late or so is something that people seem to get used to.
you do not have the option of staying at either Franz or Mt Cook, they are opposite sides of NZs tallest mountain.
As you have planned, spend time on ...

Hi Lorraine :)
Yep, go on the first tour of the morning and you will have plenty of time to make Queenstown before dark.
But book this today, space is limited and it's a popular trip. Enjoy :)

Option 3 but after going to Punakaiki,, from Greymouth,go back up the grey valley and go over the lewis pass. There are a couple of options ofr hot pools, a Japanese bath house at Maruia Springs, or the much larger complex at hanmer Springs.
The figure of 8 covers covers all the South Island .

I did the North Island during the winter and you can pretty much do whatever you would do in summer then--with the exception of water sports. I had some rain each day but it was just sprinkles. Some places were closed or had reduced hours due to it being winter but basically that really did not stop me. The main problem I had--which I will have again this year--is that in winter the ...

Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage. You have picked a great place for a honeymoon. How to travel depends on how confident you are as a driver. Of course a car will give you privacy and freedom, but if you are not an experienced driver I suggest the bus might be more relaxing. You might prefer to fly the first leg CHC-ZQN to save having to retrace your steps 6 days later.

Well as you already know it will be the winteryest part of winter. However our winters are not all that intence. Once you get up off the Canterbury planes into the mountains you will get the odd snowstorm, but they do not go on all that long. It will be cold and wet. However "cold" is less than 10 (centigrade) rather than long periods below zero. There is a professional theatre in ...

The place to start is by getting a guide book on NZ and reading it carefully, deciding on which places are of interest to you. There is nobody who can do this for you.
I know nothing about your interests. You might hate the things I enjoy in NZ.
