NYE in NYC - Irish Bars?...

Steph - I'm 65 so your idea of a good mix of music and mine would certainly be different eh? St Patrick's day was so loud it would hard to hear the music if you were in the band. ONCE in my life I went to a big NYE party at a restaurant here in CT - that was in 1967 - never again, either a pub or house party. For you I think you will enjoy the pub atmosphere and save some significant money in the long run. Happy New Year and do...

Which way to do it

Are you under the impression that stores here are closed on the weekends - is that why you feel a need to do all this the day your arrive. I could see wanting to get the camera that day since you would want it charged up to use for the time you are here - but, why not go NJ if you need to, another day?

Feb 2010 New York Wedding!

The "extended" references you've seen online refer to a more elaborate marriage certificate -- the documentation that you were married here -- not to the preceding license application. It's explained in the NYC Marriage Bureau's FAQ section here …nyc.gov/html/marriage/faq.shtml#certificate and in the second "bullet point" under the Fees heading on this page:...

I'd suggest you wait a bit for specials to be posted on travelzoo.com or travel-ticker You could book something now that's cancelable, but I think you should see some nicer hotels run specials.

NYC Subway Safety

That's why I asked--because I remembered the fight incident you mentioned was there. I believe I recall a couple of stories mentioning such experiences in the Times' book collection of subway stories. Edited: 3:51 pm, yesterday

Yeah, I read that article too, and I thought what I'll bet a LOT of women who grew up in this city thought... "You know, that happened to me pretty much daily in high school, but it doesn't much anymore..." I think the people who do these sorts of things (and yes, I am absolutely certain that I know the difference between a crowded subway car and a person using a crowded subway car as an excuse to put his hand flat...

The only places that are going to be open at 6:45AM are 24-hour diners. You should consider pushing back the time.

It took me a minute to realize that by "BG" you meant "Bergdorf Goodman." I have never seen that abbreviation used before; the usual way of shortneing the name is "Bergdorf's". That being said, yes, the best place to look would indeed be Bergdorf Goodman.

1. It's Rockafeller, but yes people would take the subway, you could also take the bus.
2. Train and subway are used interchangeably, unless someone is talking about the Long Island Railroad, New Jersey transit or Metro North trains
3. $2,25. You could get a weekly pas, and yes it's worth it. Costs $27
4. Every airport has its positives and negatives, ...

With that group I would go to BB King's. You will be there with a lot of other tourist families. Other places I can think of are not really for kids.

To the right of the forum, there is a section that says - Why Vacation rentals are a bad idea in NYC .
Unfortunately, most rentals are either scams or illegal, so you probably will find a lot of difficulty finding something for your needs.
You will however find hotels that are well equipped for your requirements.
As for the flights, the best thing to do is...

flew to West coast america in May premium economy. My hubbie is 6 ft 2 and i am 5 9" and in my opinion it is worth every penny. Like you I dont care about the bubbly but the bigger seat which reclined more was worth every penny and the cabin is much smaller so it feels more private. If you ever go on a route with a 747 plane then try and get the upstairs premium economy which is brill. ...

Like I said, there are places to eat in the Concourse level of Rock Center. I reco Two Boots Pizza.
Go to the Rock Center website. Click on "shop and eat". A menu of categories will appear in the left margin. Click on each category for a list of venues.
Granted, it's not the easiest click-through menu (you have to keep going back to the list for each choice), but ...

There is a tribute center right near the site--- that and St Paul's church are the most appropriate places to go.The people in the tribute center (not to be confused with the Ground Zero Museum and workshop)would be the best people to ask if what you want to do is appropriate at this time.
Frankly at this point it is the international visitors who most often ask about this. While ...

Given that their whole shtick is that you eat them hot--- even if you could get them out of the country (which I don't know if you can) I am afraid they would be stale by the time you got them home.... Besides which I think they have closed a number of stores and I don;t know if there are any left in NYC ... I don't like them myself so maybe a KK fanatic can bring us both up to date.

No it is not that bad... stop reading reviews. I am sure you could find similar responses about your first choice... Just come, relax and enjoy the city... It is not like they are putting you in a fleabag illegal hotel.

Let me see. You can spend $500 a night ( although your budget is unlimited) to place 4 people, two in a bed in a room. It would seem to me that it is much smarter to spend $250 a night, get a less fancy hotel, place two people in the room and have the "elite, luxury" of only having two ( versus four) share a bathroom! Personally, the less crowded accomadation is worth sacrificing a bit ...
