At 7AM a good number of the office workers will already be at their desks. It's nowhere near early. Regardless, Times Square is packed with people at - literally - ALL hours. You would be perfectly safe walking around Times Square at 3, 4, or 5AM. You wouldn't be at all lonely for company.

I have tried to buy something there twice, but, yuck. Can't bring myself to do it. It's just too gross, and I suppose I'm not that young, drunk or desperate anymore. (Please don't cut-n-paste that, thank you.) There's a counter with a couple of stools, but really no place to sit properly. It's about as fun as a gas station snack mart, IMHO.
