LOL PlayaMaya! Best meal I've had so far in Playa! Was wonderful sitting under the big palapa having a great breakfast overlooking the beach with our toes in the sand. Great service too!

Dreams resorts are a very good line of resorts. I think you would be happy with any of them.

zbreezes - please go back and read the link I posted upthread. It's a wide variety of places to eat, and not a TexMex restaurant amongst them.

The real answer is to check with your airline. Call them or check their website. However, I checked the current and forecast conditions in aviation lingo from this site: www.flightsimaviation.com/db/airports/MMUN METAR: MMUN 080359Z 09017G29KT 4SM RA BKN010 OVC100 25/22 A2983 RMK 8/77/ RAB50 This means that as of 10 PM today the winds are out of the east at 17 knots gusting to 29. Even I can handle that. The visibility is 4 miles in rain with...

Safety in Mexico

No problem Victoriabound - having re-read your post, perhaps I misinterpreted your main message too, so thanks for the clarification. Bottom line is we both agree that this is a safe and beautiful part of the world and no-one needs to be more concerned about their safety than anywhere else (in fact, probably less so!!).

Good point, acasun, <"Just have to make sure people do not confuse restaurants here?"> ... ... but I think we're all on the same page: the one on Cuauhtemoc (Campana, not Campanario). There seems to be a question on whether it still exists (?).

Also, I seem to find in Cancun they are all the same at all the stores - the typical tropical print ones. And they seem to be all of the smaller sizes.........ick for me :( Not so say you won't find some there you like, of course. I'm glad to hear the dress you got at Newport ran big. I'd rather it be big than too tight.

Acasun I remember El Campanario as I posted an inquiry before my 06 trip for information only to discover it had closed. It sounded like a real classy place like a mansion correct?

No, it is not just you or your computer. Someone posted last week that it is undergoing maintenance. It was stated it should be returned to service sometime in November. I sure miss it and hope it is back on line soon.

On our last visit we thought we'd try Walmart and have it be our one stop shopping (don't like to shop on vacation) but after spending a lot of time in the store NOT finding what we needed, then headed over to Soriana's. The whole thing took more time than we had wished. (is that sentence a complaint?...let me try again.) The whole thing took more time than we had wished...

After a 2.5 hour bus ride to the Tucan last November we've sworn off shared transportation! I swear we stopped at every resort and then the unloading of baggage took forever! I'm now a convert to private transportation to a resort.

I would never use an ATM here to get dollars but cant say I am surprised at the charges. What you did makes for a complicated transaction since the currency here is the peso. So, from my understanding , the machine (or bank) must first exchange back to dollars which is never a favorable rate--you will never get dollar for dollar the amount you are asking. But hope this serves as a ...

We did the same o same oh (Iberostar Del Mar/Beach) for 3 trips, then we decided to mix things up and went to Cancun and stayed at the Oasis Grand Caribbean last week. We miss the same o same o and will be booking a trip to Iberostar for 2010. I'm pretty sure my husband will never let me book anything else again, he is Iberostar or bust.

Spots- When we were at EPM I was talking to the concierge about taking days off and she told me their employees at EPM work 40 days at a time with one day off every 6 days, and then are reevaluated at the end of the 40 days. She also mentioned that they were required to take 2 weeks off every year with no pay. She said it was stressful because you knew your job was only secure for 40 ...

The Telcel 'Amigo' plan is really popular with both locals and short term visitors. The Telcel office is just across from Sharp Hospital, behind the Banorte Building (Banorte is located on Rafael Buelna Av. just south of Valentinos on the south side). There is someone who speaks English that can help you if you don't speak Spanish. Mention it when you enter the office so you can be ...

Lots of condos and villas overlooking the ocean all around the bay, conducive to whale watching. Check at VRBO, Casas del Mar, PVRPV for listings and availability for lots of great places. Trip advisor I believe might also have a rental listing now too... Plenty of beachfront hotels as well, however unless you book an oceanfront unit and pay that cost up front, it's hard to ...

The only thing that I can think of that's uniquely "local," meaning Yucatecan, is the Maya sacrifice at the palapa bar of Posada del Mar. It's not just a drink; it's a production and performance by Romy :) He also makes the best pina colada. The best frozen margaritas (IMO because I do not like them sweet) are the ones Carlos makes at the Bamboo bar. Others have raved about ...

Yep, just saw this. Models seem to disagree on intensity with most (if I read correctly) saying it won't become a hurricane. Still early so fingers crossed. Not that I'm taking it personally but, the last time hubby and I came down, Wilma hit 3 weeks before. Guess what? We are coming down in 3 weeks!! Hey, as long as everyone stays safe down there, that's all that matters. Have a great ...
