We travelled just about everywhere in India by train, but just a few times we decided to do the bus instead... and the short run from Bangalore to Mysore was one of these. Trains are great to go long distances with a toilet always within reach, and -- as the previous poster said -- they are great for getting up and walking around in, but they're not, generally, designed for looking ...

Hi,
You can consider Ginger...its a chain of budget hotels in India...good value for money.
The best way to reach Mysore from Bangalore would be via road its around 150 km from Bangalore. You can either hire a cab which will be expensive around 2500-3000 rps or you can take a bus (take a Volvo air conditioned one which is very comfortable).
