where to stay in new year in Sicily

Yes, it’s OK - The Best Western Mediterraneo Hotel is a chain hotel – It’s a good value, good rates, basic, no frills, central location in Catania’s historic centre. tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187888-d249383… Enjoy! Vagabonda

As I recall, the all-stops ACTV bus is €3 and the non-stop ATVO bus is €4. The non-stop bus is better as it has a luggage compartment underneath.

If the airporter coach schedules don't work out, you can take the public bus from the Alghero airport direct to Sassari, then connect to the train OR THE BUS to Oristano: www.arst.sardegna.it (bus) …sardegna.it/media/0/12387690019790/variazio… (bus) ferroviesardegna.it/SASSARI%20ORARI%20AGGIOR… (bus) www.ferroviedellostato.it (train)

Weekend in Florence
Published (2009-11-25 22:48:00)
I wouldn't stay near the train station. There are more palatable areas in Florence you can choose from, such as the Lungarno and the Duomo areas. What is your budget? As per itinerary, there's so much to do in Florence you should customize your own.Piick up a guide book and choose accordingly. If you wish to see the Uffizi and the Accademia you should book in advance, asking your hotel to make the phone call for you if complimentary...

I'd split it between VEnice and Rome with more time in Rome and do some day tripping around Rome e.g. perhaps rent a car one day and do the Etruscan tombs of Tarquinia and Cervetari, do a day trip to Tivoli and Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este, do a day trip one day to Ostia Antica Siena would be a nice place to spend a couple of nights if you want to add a town -- but it is not conveniently connected by public transport to Rome I...

As far as I know, snow tyres are not mandatory in Switzerland (unlike Austria ), though many insurance companies insist on them and this may be the problem with the company you contacted. (Chains may be mandatory in certain areas and conditions, and you should probably have these as an extra.) I have just attempted a dummy online booking with Hertz from Malpensa to Taesch (which is as near as you can get to Zermatt by car) and the site seemed...

Consumption Charge in Florence...
Published (2009-11-25 13:28:00)
From a renter's perspective until everyone starts doing this, we can avoid the whole thing by renting a different place. I bet I don't run up much of a heating bill when I rent because I have often turned the heat off in my apt during the day when I have rented in Feb. The apt was jsut too hot by the evening when we came back otherwise. I would also be willing to pay a finite surcharge for the privelege of turning on the A/C. But...

Florence is not a very big place. Most parts that a tourist would want to visit was walkable from each other.
This address is temporarlity the blue balloon with a black do on it on this google map (where google thinks it is)

There is a scale in the lower left and some of the big tourist sites are marked on this map
It depends on ...

Thanks again for the advice dancingbrave.
We have already booked flights from bristol to olbia but having done a bit of digging around it would seem that alghero would perhaps be a more suitable destination for a family to stay. Would you agree or do you think we would be just as well off staying closer to olbia?
We have found some accommodation that looks pretty ...

I would agree with Sophie. For what the OP wants to see and do during his holiday, Sorrento is central to everything. From Sorrento it's an easy hydrofoil ride to Capri and Naples , train to Pompeii, bus to Positano and the Amalfi Coast towns. Sorrento has a great variety of accommodations, restaurants, shops, and most things a visitor desires. Verellen needs a daily base from ...

A Venice connected pass can only be brought on line 7 days in advance, it is the most ecconomical pass, it starts from when you collect it, and runs tothe same time subsequent days, the actv bus is included in the pass from the airport, the alilaguna ferry at a suppliment,
I would get a 72 pass and pay for the extra time in Venice, work it out with arrival time, and keep most of...

Hi
Take a look at this apartment on the Not Ordinary ways web site, it says that it has a lift, terrace, parking nearby and a sofa bed in the study.
notordinaryways.com/tuscany-accommodations/h… We have not used this agency but they have been around for a while.

It's the Cuomo Lucky store, on the tree-lined Piazza Antiche Mura where the taxis park. Telephone number is 081-807-5523.

I am usually a strong advocate for using trains in Italy but, for the trip you propose, a car would probably be better. You will need one when you are at Siena and Brunate if you want to see the surrounding countryside.
However, you would have to be insane to even consider driving into Florence or Milan . You could easily see Florence by a day trip by bus or train from ...

In a nutshell I think you have planned far too much, you will not have time to appriciate these places,
I would cut it by at least a quarter, you must have priorities of places to go, you will have to do more research, little things like , Naples to Positano by train, there is no Train Station in Positano, cut one of the Lakes out, one Lake needs more than 2 days, you are not ...

You could but you might be rushing a bit, and much depends on the time of year. First, fly into Venice and out of Rome as this gives you more time actually sightseeing. The itinerary might look like this
Fly into Venice 3 nights
Train to Florence 2 nights
Train to 5T 2 nights
Train to Naples and Circumvesuviana to Sorrento , 3 nights if you want, Day visits to ...

Without a car its more difficult, doable, but there will be a hassle factor. Camucia and Terontola are the two closest train stations. We used Cortona as our base this last May, but we had a car. We did not see many taxis, but we really weren't keeping an eye out for them. Without a car I would recommend a different town to base from and a day trip to Cortona. Getting around in Cortona ...

The bus may be the cheapest, but it’s really not the most convenient. Aside from limited service on only Mondays and Fridays, there’s constant work on the autostrada from Salerno south.

I just wrote that you have already been told that the location of the Il Duca was better. Tell you what - if you are unsure about the Il Duca, it doesn';t mean you must go to the Casci. Check Il Villino, which is close to Il Duca and has great reviews.
