Your advice please
Published (2009-12-04 21:34:00)
Your plan seems okay and pretty relaxed. You can certainly fit in more sights, depending on how energetic your family is. For example, on the first day you can visit Causeway Bay for some shopping and dinner after the peak. On the second day, depending on how long you take at Citygate outlets, you can also visit Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden at Diamond Hill, before going back to TST for dinner and SOL. On day 3, maybe visit Stanley also...

Help Required on Some Guesthouses

Yes - all in ok locations and near to MTR. Yes In Space is more for longer rentals, but is new and if you can get fo few days might be a good deal. It's proably the furthest from the MTR. Golden Crown is in TST - building old but inside should be fine. Alisan is in Causeway Bay. Similar to Golden Crown probably. Many hostel options in Hong Kong .

Stationery stores Hongkong?
Published (2009-12-04 22:46:00)
Within Harbour City, Papyrus is a high-end store with nice stationery and gifts. There are a couple other stores around it that carry similar items but the names escape me at this point. At LCX near Star Ferry, if you walk to the very end on the same floor where California Pizza Kitchen is, near Starbucks, there is a store that sells various cute items too.

Help! Tired of Planning. Can I
Published (2009-12-04 21:59:00)
HK's rail system is second to none. Cheap, efficient and frequent (ie every 3 mins early till late.) Many if not most hotels are within 5-10 mins of an MTR station. Buses are also C E and F. I would say all hotels are within spitting distance of some form of public transport. (now someone prove me wrong. :-) )

Hong Kong Christmas masses

The Catholic Cathedral (on Caine Road, Central) will have a midnight mass, arrive earlier at say by 11:30pm to secure a seat. You can walk down to MTR train station and take a train back, train running all night.

Hong Kong, Macau, Zhuhai, Shenzhen
Published (2009-12-02 08:21:00)
How long do you have? What are your interests? A logical circle would be HKG-Macau-Zhuhai-Shenzhen. This requires only one ferry crossing & 2 border crossings. To make a day trip to Macau & another to Zhuhai would require 3 ferry sailings & 3 border crossings. From Zhuahi you can take a bus (2.5 hr) or another ferry to Shenzhen (1 hr to Shekou).

Suggested 5 day itinerary
Published (2009-12-04 03:37:00)
Yes, go there for Venetian, it's well worth it :) By the way, the "Bubble" show at City of Dreams... when you were there, was the queue very long? I'm thinking of going for the evening shows but I'm afraid to waste too much time queueing for the tickets.

What kind of pens are you looking for? High end ones like Mont Blanc? Cute ones with cartoon characters? Functional ones for your own use? What sort of price range?
You could browse department stores like Jusco and Sogo (Causeway Bay), which have stationery departments.
For pet supplies, go to Victory Street in Mongkok (near Mongkok East station).

After taking the Airport Express train, you can take a short taxi ride from the train station to the hotel, costs about HK$50. Taxis are readily available at the train station at that time of day.

I think the regular Octopus card is what you want. Available from the Octopus Service Desk in HKIA.
$150 HKD + a $50 HKD deposit if I remember. Returning the card I think is only $7 HKD service charge.
The card is the ONLY way to travel in HK.
It's been a year since I was there -- so I'm sure the HK TA folks will chime in with anything I've got wrong.

Hello and welcome to the Hong Kong Forum,
My REALLY short answer is yes.
To me, Hong Kong is VERY tourist friendly.
If you choose to do this, arrive at Chek Lap Kok airport and clear immigration and customs.
Proceed to the super helpful folks at the Hong Kong Tourist Association kiosk. They are the BEST.

take a little tram ride, a tram station opposite the Tin Hau MTR station is very close to your hotel, go westbound passed the Victortia Part, get off at Yee Wo Street/Paterson Street, there are a lot of restaurantes of average price. For better and more expensive restaurants, go to the Times Square near by (open your hotel's location map you will see).
You need to make reservation ...

Very little rain. Temperature could be anything from a subset from 8° to 25°C, it varies a lot on different day/year. Watch the forecast a few days before will give you a much better idea.

KMB buses have visual bus stop information displays downstairs and upstairs. Shortly after the bus leaves a bus stop the next stop information is displayed alternately in Chinese and English and then reverts to Chinese until the next stop is reached. The English display is very brief.
At the moment Citybus have working information displays only I think on Cityflyer airport ...

Dunno specifically but they're everywhere. Walk the streets, we found 2 within 50m of our hotel. No need to sweat it, they'll be around.

Hello and welcome to the Hong Kong Forum,
You have definitely come to the right place, the HK experts here REALLY know their stuff.
To get you started, here are a few questions:
When will you arrive? ( This might help forum gurus spot something current that might be going on in HK for you and the children.)
Will you be in the Metropolis ...

Langham place has good rep. On top of a mall. Marginally closer to an MTR station, but both within about a kilometre of each other if I remember rightly. Both in a very crowded and full on area of Hong Kong .

Jumbo is not the most exciting thing to see. Repulse Bay is very optional in my opinion as it's just a wide rocky beach. If you have been to other good beach destinations, I would skip Repulse Bay completely.
I suggest you spend the morning at Aberdeen and then most of the day at Stanley.
