Paris Museum and Metro pass?
Published (2009-11-26 00:49:00)
There is a "package" sold by third party re-sellers that is known as the "Paris Pass." As your informant suggests it basically combines a Museum Pass with a Paris Visite métro pass and adds a few discounts and other incentives. It can only be purchased prior to arriving in France. Even with the incentives the general view is that the Paris Pass is overpriced and not an interesting product for most visitors.

Paris phone codes
Published (2009-11-26 16:19:00)
My phone number starts 01 42 and I can confirm that it is in the north of Paris -- with a few exceptions. Now you can move anywhere in the city and keep your old phone number, so there must be some people in the south of Paris with numbers starting 01 42.

CDG to Nation

>>>A carnet costing 11€60 would certainly seem to be a better way to go since you will need the other tickets for the métro or bus when you are in Paris in any case. You cannot buy a carnet on the bus<<< Part of the 'catch' to the #350 bus is that finding the bus stops for it at CDG may be a bit of an inconvenience. As noted, the driver will take €uro denomination cash for the...

Christmas Markets in Paris
Published (2009-11-26 04:00:00)
It's actually very nicely-done -- the villages have lights on the utility poles and such, and the house decorations are very low-key. It's much more like small-town America when I was a kid -- enough lights to be festive and pretty, but not so many it hurts your eyes...

Unless you are staying in the Disneyland Hotel, and have Premium meal vouchers, they will take the face value of your vouchers off the cost of BB. It's a great show, have a Magical trip.

Opinions on Air France?
Published (2009-11-26 23:12:00)
all airlines have declined to AF levels in recent years -- but AF has always had snotty minimal service (the FAs disappear after meal service and it is self service after that -- noone bringing water by every couple of house like most US carriers, no one doing diddly) -- and the food is awful which I didn't expect -- my personal favorite, the frozen solid poached egg on greens

my-apartment-in-paris.com reviews?
Published (2009-11-26 01:28:00)
Renting an apartment in Paris is complex enough without extras added that are not obvious in the listing or first communication. There are plenty of agencies people have used successfully with apartments proved to be satisfactory that it's not worth bothering with an agent/agency with hidden and extra costs. Only a few apartments require payment of utilities and insurance. The deposit for utility bills and cleaning does not seem...

+ 33 1 The city code is the 1. If you are in France you have to add a 0, as in 01... Cell phones have their own code, 6 and other regions may be 2, or 4, or 5, etc..

Absolutely. I think that a lot of people have a very hazy idea of what a Christmas market is supposed to be anyway, when they have never seen one before.

I just came back from Paris this past Sunday. As Marriott member I have spent some days at Marriott Champ Eliysees and also in the renaissance arch de triumph. The last one is like a 3 star hotel in the U.S.A. good location, very small rooms as all hotels in Paris., for half of the price you can stay at Court Yard , Neully in a suite. If you pre-paid the room is half the price.you ...

I've stayed in the 4th (close to the border of the 3rd) and are staying in the 6th next May. Both great locations and within walking distance to most of the major attractions. Definitely stay closer if you can it's wonderful to be able to walk everywhere.
Hope you all have a great time.

Not all French roads are slow! there are motorways in France that are as good or better as the US freeways. There is an Autoroute all the way from Paris to near Mt St Michel, via Rouen and Caen. About 350 km?
Unfortunately you can't drive at 140 -200 km/hr as my dad, my brothers and I and many others used to do in the previous century, but still you can keep a god steady speed ....

Its because youre looking for flights to Paris . The same can be said about flight from Paris.
I have been looking for tickets this xmas and discovered that I could fly from London to Sydney via CDG with Air France for 200€ less than I could catch the same flight at CDG. Likewise, I could fly Paris/ Edinburgh / Hamburg /Sydney for 500€ less than any direct flight - even a ...

I don't wish to put a damper on your dinner plans but I've never seen a 2 year old in a decent restaurant for an evening meal. I have seen tourists show up with a young child in tow and be informed that they cannot seem to find any record of the reservation... Be sure and inform in advance any place you choose that you wish to bring along a 2 year old child and I'm sure you can find one...

Take a look around the passenger compartment of almost any outbound flight from Paris . 1/2 of the passengers have already begun their planning for their next visit, 1/2 are still reliving their recent visit and the other 50% are dreaming of Paris (statistics provided by theYogi Berra Academy & Math & Science).

As long as your Garmin has French/European maps, you'll have no problem.
We use our Garmin on a daily basis without any issues at all -- bought from Amazon in the US.

re: Shakespeare and Company bookstore, the reason you couldn't find it near the Odeon metro stop is that the original and famous bookstore of that name no longer exists at that location. The American, Sylvia Beach opened Shakespeare and Company in 1919, originally on 8, rue Dupuytren, and in 1921r moved it to larger quarters on 12 rue de l'Odeon. This was the store made famous as a ...
