Thanks for that Nick....good point and I shall try and remember when posting about the Pork Pit to say that it is CASUAL. I often say the cab drivers stop there for food but I should expand. Thanks :) Edited: 2:50 pm, today

Please do not listen to Sandals agents (and, by extension, your travel agent - after all, they are getting their information from the Sandals PR folks, essentially). They either have no idea about the truth or are simply not allowed to talk about it. In all honestly, the former is likely. I see no reason why senior management would tell Sandals agents and other customer contact folks the truth. All that would do is cause panic. Things are not...

We stayed here last year with our two boys. We were in the North section...and we had a fridge in our room. Closer to beach as well.

Personally I keep my eyes on the booking sites and try and catch a sale. You can make a reservation on many sites: expedia, orbitz, etc .

I have seen this topic countless times in reviews and forums for Cuba and DR destinations. The real culprit is "sand flies". They are small flies commonly called no-see-ums in Atlantic Canada and they usually come out in the evenings near shorelines (i.e. resorts). They fly low to the ground, so most often bite below the knee. Like blackflies or mosquitos, some people have allergic ...

The north shore of the Samana Peninsula (DR) fits - or at least it did when we were there. The resort name is BP El Portillo. It's the only resort on that shore line, and you can walk for miles and miles, all the way into Las Terrenas . The snorkeling is excellent, and the food was pretty good also.

Don't look at the weather report....it always shows rain. We were there the last few weeks....one day it was raining on the front porch but not on the back deck....rain in the caribbean means pop up showers that last 10 - 15 minutes usually...and only in scattered areas Check out the webcam at Sandy Ground ( anguillaguide.com ). It's gorgeous today.

Okay, we'll assume it is working BUT I'm still using that as my reason for going to Jump Up - not like I need a reason! Still, I believe I'll be having an adult beverage in the area around the time you have reported and will report on any "suspicious" activity (is there any other kind of activity during the Nov. Jump Up?).

"Are the insurances provided by the credit card companies good enough to be the only policy necessary? "
YOU have to read YOUR policy to see what it covers. Not all credit card companies have decent coverage, nor do some employee group insurance plans..... you really have to read your policy thouroughly.

funny enough I live here and I don't have a contact for a seamstress.. I seriously wish I did. if you are getting married here, do you have a wedding coordinator?? if so, they should be able to source one.. or possibly the hotel you are staying in.. or villa management company... just a thought.. I'll be interested to see who you get.
Actually I do someone.. come to think of ...

Safe, no murder rate in your face warnings
I wouldn't walk alone at night in a dark alley or anything - not because I have fear that it is not safe, but because those are normal city smarts that you use when travelling.

hi LAnne - sorry to hear about the change in your flight.
Prepare yourself for a long, long day.
Although I don't know how long your layover in Vancouver will be, it appears that from the time you leave Calgary until you arrive in Varadero will be approx 11 1/4 hrs.
Have a great trip.....once you get there ;)

We just returned from the Iberostar Grand Bavaro and I can attest that the walkways were trecherous when wet. Unfortunately we had a good amount of rain so they were wet a lot. I had to walk barefoot as in either my (very small) heels or flip flops, I was sliding like crazy.

Hi Christine,
Clives is the cheapest transportation ($18 pp per way plus tip) for shared. I have taken Juta also. It's about the same money. The JUTA transfer stops often at other resorts. Clives can too but they group travel times together.
Or you can go private. I use Talk of the Town Tours for private.
Your departure tax is included in your airfare ...
