Fox does not offer tours as there is nothing to see there really. Not sure why Brentwood would be interesting to drive thru(really nothing besides Souplantation for a nice lunch is really there), so let us know what you would like to do. Chances are that you can just take the Rapid Express bus all day for $5 instead of using the Hop on/off bus. Basically drives you around the same area, comes way and I mean WAY more frequently, cheaper, has a...

It is a lot for us to plan this sort of trip for you withOUT knowing anything about you. It might help if you filled in your personal profile so we'd know who you are. When my son took a trip like yours he joined American Youth Hostels and found great places to stay and meet folks across the USA. It is not just for the very young either , but traveling families, and older folks can use it as well. IF you are a teacher then there is an...

Should be fine. Some foreign co-workers of mine brought in some wood carvings to pass out as gifts before they went back home.

Happy Thanksgiving
Published (2009-11-26 09:15:00)
Thanks Oskar! I'm thankful I'm not cooking this year. Instead I shall toddle up the hill in the midafternoon, bearing a couple of bottles of champagne, and enjoy the celebration with friends. I'll wander home, "sans" champagne but with enough turkey to provide my four-legged friend with a bit of a celebration also! Happy T-Day everyone!

Here is the Yosemite Guide from last July: nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/upload/yg09-5.pdf The TM Grill is only open tilll 5pm ~ seems odd but that's the way they do it! There is also a decent map of the TM area. Too bad hubby won't be acting as your chauffeur. I guess he's hiking with you? I think it makes more sense to take the shuttle up to Tuolumne Meadows and leave your car in the Valley. There is a little bit of information...

Christmas in Orange County

Actually, I would highly recommend driving out to downtown Riverside to see the largest holiday light display in So. Cal. at the Historic Mission Inn, the Festival of Lights. If you would like to have dinner or brunch on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve it's very special. Usually there are carriage rides offered too and occasionally carolers. I say occasiionally because I have been able to catch them sometimes and other times not....

The coastal route IS part slow, part fast, but once you commit to going south of Carmel through Big Sur, there are no cut overs to the faster inland route. A normal time frame between Carmel and San Simeon is roughly 2 hours without stops. But.... this is Big Sur and you will want to take your time and enjoy the sights along the way. After all, this is the most dramatic part of California between your 2 destinations. From SF, you can take the...

If memory serves me there are border crossings between Nevada & Southern CA and Arizona & CA, I don't remember the CA-OR border and I can't think of a station on I-80. They are agricultural inspection stations trying to protect CA's multi-billion dollar agricultural business.. http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/

Buying SoCal Citypass from Costco
Published (2009-11-26 11:09:00)
I've never bought the pass from Costco but when I've used the Citypass in various cities in the past I've ordered it from citypass's website. When you do, they email you a voucher that has your name on it. You bring the voucher to any of the attractions featured on the pass and redeem it for the ticket book which has the admission tickets to the attractions in it. To redeem the voucher, you need to show ID and the name on...

Hi
ZB has given you excellent info. Just one thing. I'd drive from Zabriskie Point and Furnace Creek Visitor center to Badwater first and make the side trip to Devils Golf Course. From Badwater turn back and drive Artist Drive from the south because it's one way starting south. And yes, add a night in DV if you can.....From the Sanddunes you can drive back to Las Vegas via Beatty...

Jacket, yes. Coat, no.
By jacket, I mean something light (like with a fleece liner and nylon shell in case of light rain, drizzle, etc.) for layering and when the nights cool off.

I'm hardly a photographer but i do like to take photos with a good Canon point and shoot. Classic Yosemite photos include the view from Tunnel View, shots from Glacier Point and from the Sentinel Dome hike, Half Dome from the Curry Village area, Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, the Ahwanhee Hotel with the Royal Arches rising behind it, the Merced river from one of the bridges, and Valley ...

Hi, Kenny
Driving is really THE BEST option as it is quick (2 hrs, 15 min or so), direct, comfortable and reasonably priced. Here are the other options available to you:
1. Fly: American Eagle (part of AA.com) has 7:25 pm and 8:35 pm flights for around $450 per person / 45 minute trip
2. Bus from LAX to Union (rail) station; transfer to a train to SD:...

Did you already booked that hotel? If so, your best probably would be to rent a car as there is really no point of interest along Olympic Blvd.
If you can still change your hotel and locate yourself towards a more central location, you would be perfectly fine by just using public transportation
IN any case, a car would be always be more convinient, but you can also...

Yes, it's worth it to stay on the ocean. Don't stay at an airport hotel. That would be a yucky start to your beautiful honeymoon. You could stay at the Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey, which is just a short taxi ride from the airport, and is right on the water. (no beach though)
But even better: go to one of the hotels on or near the beach in Santa Monica . Just a little bit ...

Well, you could fly into SFO, transport into San Francisco for a visit, then get a rental car & make the 4 hour drive to Yosemite. At the end of your Yosemite visit, drive back to SFO, drop off the car, and fly home.
In general, I think San Francisco is a better choice for a weekend and Yosemite better for weekdays, so the order could be reversed.

The Jelly Belly factory is not in Sacramento. It's in Fairfield.
Highway 99 has many short off ramps and on ramps so it's tough to travel in the slower right lane. It's heavily used by truckers. And many folks exceed the speed limit. Yes, there are many many places to stop for snacks, food, drinks, gasoline, etc. The California central valley is well populated, agricultural, ...

I think the locals will tell you that there aren't many good restaurants in Fisherman's Wharf. I will leave it up to them to recommend.
Where are you staying, so that they can pick a restaurant with easy access for your mother, either by public transit or walking?

ntz4bbl,
That is great advice! I have tickets for the Feb 2-19 concert in Seattle at Key arena. Getting out of a concert can be very hard anywhere - especially that late at night! Definately worth the traffic headache to see Bon Jovi in concert though. This will be my 4th Bon Jovi concert! SO excited!!! :) Good Luck with the Honda Center traffic! Enjoy the concert and try ...

If you want to stick to the warmer regions you'll have to stay in southern Ca. Maybe explore places like Palm Springs , Joshua Tree NP, Anza Borrego Desert SP and even Death Valley NP. Have you already been to Las Vegas ?

At least for the LA part of your trip, pack layers. T-shirts & jeans, light sweaters/sweatshirts, light jackets, and you'll be fine.
