Take the free shuttle from the hotel across the road to the airport and get the 992 bus to downtown. There may be a stop you can walk to from the hotel for that bus but am not sure. Here's a map of the route: sdcommute.com/Services/SDMTSRoutePDFs/992.pdf

What sort of food are you looking for (besides sushi)? How much are you willing to spend? Off the top of my head, Asia de Cuba for fusion food, STK for steak, Koi in Beverly Hills for sushi, Fogo de Ciao in Beverly Hills for crazy amounts of steak. Urasawa in Beverly Hills for once in a lifetime sushi experience if you're really willing to splurge.

No, for a couple of reasons. Christmas is a time that people spend with their families. Many people travel out of the city to visit their loved ones. Those that remain are more apt to have a holiday dinner together than go to a theme park. Second, you can always upgrade to the front of the line passes AFTER you enter the park. Just have a look around and if the waits for the attractions are longer than you would like, ask any Park employee...

Note:We were just in Tahoe. We stayed at the Marriott and they said their pool was heated. To us, it was. We are used to Northern California and cooler pool temperature. We were quite happy in the pool. Others were there from Southern California and when I was in the pool and enjoying swimming, they found the pool very cold and unbearable. They thought I was "crazy" to be swimming in it. Although I have not been in the...

OP- A suggestion, I answered your question elsewhere and came across it again here. I also noticed you've posted on multiple forums. Since your question is generic, a single post on the California forum will get widest visibility and often more comprehensive answers. Another FYI....look at the green text line with the arrows right above "Monterey Forum". Monterey (and the other forums you posted to) are sub-forums to...

Yes, taking the airport shuttle and then the 992 bus is the easiest. The only other alternative is to walk out to the corner of Harbor Drive to catch Route 923. Route 923 operates weekdays only to downtown. (On weekends, it only goes as far east as the airport.)

Hi, we like the Bass Lake area, the Pines Resort is a nice place to check out. If you want to stay in Oakhurst, I would recommend either the Shilo Inn or the Best Western Gateway Inn there. Have fun! :)

Thank you for the information. That is indeed a very high price for campsites, especially bad ones. I hope others will read and take heed.
If I were you I would go ahead and take the refund---or ask for more.

You can use any number of online mapping programs to find routes and estimated travel times between various points. Using mapquest.com, here is the route from DL to Universal to LAX which includes travel times (within the written instructions):

Happy to give recommendations, but a few more questions:
1. Places w/views of vineyards tend to be almost 2-4x as much (no joke!) as those "in town" (no vineyard views). Which is more important to you?
2. Places w/views also tend to be farther away from restaurants and wine tasting rooms, etc. Would you rather have the views, or walk to dinner...

This trip is in January, right? How do you intend to travel from Las Vegas to the Napa Valley ? It's a LONG drive, especially through the California Central Valley tule fog, but certainly do-able. I think it's much easier to fly ~ maybe LV to Oakland Airport? Rent a car, visit Napa Valley, then go to San Francisco and drop the car (or back to the Oakland airport if the drop fees ...

Hi there, I got this info from the mustang forum by using Google to search for
--mustang convertible/luggage space--
OK-- 2 of the 26x16x12's will not fit.
The problem is the truck (boot) is not square/rectangualar. It curves at the sides because of wheels.
I was able to fit 1- 28x18x11 sideways and 1- 22x14x10 lengthways and it was tight but fit good....

If you're going to Muir anyway, you could continue north to Point Reyes National Seashore.
Going south the drive along Hiway 1 from Pacifica to Half Moon Bay is pretty.
If the weather is clear, drive up to Twin Peaks. It's one place in the city that isn't all the easy via public transit.

Southwest has been around for nearly 40 years and is consistently rated as one of the best airlines in America from both a customer service and safety perspective, and has been able to do it while maintaining profitability more consistently than most other airlines.
Southwest always offers competitive fares with less restrictions than most other carriers. It's a great way to ...

Welcome newbie!
I would stay away from the beaches in general. If you are not going to have a car, then you will need to be near public transit. Additionally, So Cal is not Florida . It is not going to be 80 degrees and sunny at the beach in April.
But there is PLENTY to see and do.
Old Town State Park has some interesting sites and historical points ...

If you are going to drive south of Carmel , on Highway 1, there is no way to get over to I5 until Morro Bay, and then that goes a little northeast on Highway 41, and the trip is over 70 miles. (The Coast Range interferes.)
You can get there from Carmel by getting on Hwy 156, but that is about the same distance.
It is really a push to get to LA from Sonoma by 2:...

Just to clarify: Hiway 1 is only called "Pacific Coast Highway" south of Ventura in Southern California (400 miles away). In NorCal it's called "Cabrillo Highway" but most locals refer to it as Hiway 1.
There is much of the Hiway 1 between Pacifica and Santa Cruz that I like a lot. There are frequently sufers and para-sailboarders to watch at the many beaches. Part of the ...

Wow,
Thanks for the post. Guess I'll have to think a bit before I give any MUNI advice based upon my extensive MUNI ridership in the last few years of the prior century. Not to mention reconsider about running on "MUNI autopilot" during my next visit.
Again, thanks,

We go to The Nest in Indian Wells, several times a year for dinner with our family, for their three course dinners. We all love it. Great service and prices. I'm in that age range, but our 30 something's and the grandchild enjoy the atmosphere, too.
After hours the piano bar, on the other side of the restaurant, is great for listening to music or dancing. Sometimes it's ...
