There are day tours by coach to Canberra, cold time of year though, all the wusses on the coast would no doubt tell you not to do it :-)

Yes I see that from the many posts. But we cannot assume what is true in our own countries is true everywhere else--which is why we are having this discussion.

Excellent trip report and you have wetted my appetite for a visit to Lord Howe Island, I can see myself on that deck with a good book and a glass of red. Talking of wine I nearly got intoxicated reading of all the wines you tasted, on your trip to the Barossa Valley, The discription of the tour was very visual when reading it. Many thanks for sharing.

Hi Claris, I would welcome any info on your statement regarding accommodation. " Accommodation is varied, but I always recommend to people they rent a holiday house, they are fully self contained and private " If you happen to be the farmers daughter/ son - hey...we do have some fellow TA 's Coral / Bay fans who would love to camp on your acres. Absolutely have a personalised private coach tour organise for you. They will make sure your party is well looked after and catered for. A sudden influx of a large group wanting something to eat can be a bit daunting for a small community for some of your tours. The coach company would make sure that all that is planned and waiting especially for you. Have not heard of Busx4 ..whatever.. but you certainly will not need a 4 x wheel drive...

Best quality hotel near Sydney...

the SFS is on a major road so staying in a hotel in the city would be a good idea. one short bus ride to the stadium and many more choices for you. hmmmm.......there are no quality hotels within walking distance to the SFS. as mentioned, the Sebel is an uphill slog (but downhill going back!!). many sports fans do this walk as they come to/from the stadium from the central railway station which is a few blocks away from the Sebel.

You can purchase a Vodafone SIM card for $9 at the airport. $20 will top it up and if you do this at the airport Vodafone van connect you to the network on site. You will need your passport.
I would however check with Vodafone Australia about the compatability of your Blackberry. Not all are compatible with the Australian network using an Australian SIM card.

The Rocks / Circular Quay area is perhaps the premium area of Sydney so you would expect to pay more in this area than other areas of Sydney, just as you do in the UK for a premium address. Is it worth it??? IMO, Yes -great location, great views, great access to public transport, tourist spots etc.
I think the other posters are correct - the price of the OSHI is reasonable - ...

You could try the YHA railway SquareSydney for luggage storage and bathroom/shower facilities.
The airport has shower rooms and luggage storage, and if you are travelling business class or have an airline elite status, you can use the lounge facilities.

Unfortunately mausgrass is right, I suggest you learn to fish.
Have a look a www.translink.com.au
This will help get you out of there. I imagine you will need to catch a bus from Bribie to Caboolture railway station and from there you should be able to get to anywhere in Brisbane , Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

I am sorry you had this unpleasant experience, but it does point out why everyone should take out travel insurance to cover against such costs.

Aquarium, Maritime Museum, Powerhouse Museum, Chinese Garden, Botanic Gardens, ferry trip, Australian Museum, Art Gallery of New South Wales ... okay, that's really MY list and I've done them all before but I'd love to go back. Just saw the Chinese Garden on Mercurio's Menu earlier today, it's looking beautiful. Maybe not for all teenagers though? Hmm, Imax maybe?

If you'd like any further advice it would help us to know the duration and time of year of your visit.
I just noticed you were already provided the airline information in a previous thread. I guess if you're planning trips to Egypt and Dallas at the same time it makes it hard to keep track?

Hi Tougei,
Glad you enjoyed your time in WA. Interesting about the car hire- glad it worked out in the end.
Sorry your Cicerello's meal was disappointing. I hope you complained!
I'm thinking the place you had fish and chips in Busselton was the Goose Cafe. We had lunch there some time ago and it was excellent.
Thanks for coming back to us with a trip report- it's ...

There are a few issues you raise here and a few you don't that bear consideration, ie is your phone quad band to access Aussie mobile phone networks etc.
However the major issue you have to address is this, that actual mobile phone access can be a bit touch and go in Tassie, and Telstra, as much as I personally despise them, are the only way to go.
If you can solve...
