Fun and lively restaurant for a...

We go to Bingo's quite a bit for dinner and sometimes just drinks after dinner. It's a fun Dutch pub and the owners are really nice. It's really busy with locals on weekend nights. Couple of other Dutch bar/restaurants that we like are Cafe Rembrandt and Cafe 080. If you're looking for more traditional Aruban food, try Nos Cunucu - great place and off the beaten path but still only about a 10 minute drive from the hotel...

Adult accomodations in Aruba?
Published (2010-01-03 20:52:00)
Tara Suites are beachfront and adult only. The beach is the best in Aruba (IMO). Palapas are plentiful. Grounds are nice. Pool is pretty nice. The pool furniture is top shelf. Virtually no one stays in the pool. The Rad is a very nice hotel. The grounds are beautiful and second only to the Hyatt grounds. Pool is nicer than Bucuti pool. The beach is not quite up to Bucuti's and I doubt that the rooms are as nice as Tara's. So, Rad...

Airport Question
Published (2010-01-04 18:58:00)
Yes, you go through both in Aruba . That is a little time consuming as you basically go through two separate security stations, one for Aruba and one for the US. You also go through immigrations in Aruba. Back in the US it is just like getting off of a flight from within the US, no waiting and no immigration. 2 hours is really enought Mon-Fri, 3 hours for Saturday and Sunday.

I agree with Amy...take a few minutes to rent it now and then be assured of no hassles once you get there.... Although it will be interesting to see how "high" high season is this year with the economic challenges of the US and UK..... Seeya on the beach in 19 days! PLM

Activities for a girls weekend

You should go for a horseback ride on the beach, take the party bus for a night out, and do a half-day tour of the island. Then you should work on your tans.

best place all included
Published (2010-01-05 11:38:00)
well, all the major resorts are on the beach (especially the all inclusives)... The Tamarijn and Divi (sister resorts, right next to each other) would be a good option as the kids would stay all inclusive, for free. The tamarijn is better suited for families, but rememeber you can use any and all aspects of the divi (and vise versa), when staying at the Tam. Between the tam and divi, you have 2 buffets and 4 restaurants. Not to mention...

Love the Divi - leaving in 2 days for my third trip there. It's very nice and with kids I think it's even a bargain. Anyone under 19 stays and eats free - just the plane ticket and excursions would be the expense for kids. Love it there! Divi is nicer than the Tam but we stayed at the Tam once and were very happy with that too.

I would skip Venezuela (due to the political climate there) but if you want to go, flying is the only way - try Venezolana Airlines.
You can fly to Bonaire via Tiara Air.

Just got back from Aruba . Stayed at the Mariott Stellaris. The beach was awesome. I usually stay at the pool, however, the beach was so inviting that I stayed there every day. The water was warm. It was a little cloudy but all in all it was fine. There were days that there were stones/shells when entering the water, but that was just a few feet and then it was great. Dont let that ...

OMG, thank you so much for your reply. I can't help the worry, it's my nature. We havent been on a family vacation in years, I just want our stay to be comfortable and thought I'd ask the experts on TA. I've spent hours on TA reading comments and made a number of calls to the hotel directly. I'll take your advice though. Thank you. Anymore advice would be greatly apreciated.

My only comment would be that in my experience with booking through these types of services vs booking directly with the hotel is that upgrades seemed to come easier when dealing with the hotel directly. Just my personal experience for what it's worth.

There are several, but there is now an additional tax you have to pay if you rent from a company directly at the airport. There are many that will meet you at the airport or pick you up and take you to their lot. We always use Tropic but right now I do not have their e-mail address. I'm sure others will chime in with websites and e-mail address's.

Mary, we are booked for July 26-August 5. The rooms are NOT plush, but they more than adequately serve our purpose. I can't think how a reasonable teenager would not be able to find something to eat, no matter how picky. The breakfast buffet is wonderful; the a la carte restaurants will serve sauce on the side, Pizza Per Tutti has stuff most kids hoover right up.

The Bucuti would really be your only choice in Aruba as far as the type of hotel you're looking for. Aruba does have some restaurants with some good local food but you will need to seek them out and get out of the touristy/hotel area. Aruba is a small island so it's easy to get around via taxi or rental car.
You might want to check availability at the Bucuti for the dates ...

Yes, you will need a car, La Cabana is in the middle of the island. You can walk on the beach to a few places. There are many taxis right out front, but you will want to go to the grocery store, IGA and fill your kitchen. try www.ecno and check the car prices. what unit do you have. Happy Hours are so much fun. Restaurants there are getting better, breakfast at Captains Table is good ...

From airport to Ocean Club is about 17.00 as I remember. We rent a car from www.ecno.com. Many on this site have used other places . We have been pleased with ecno for about 6 years, they are at the airport. Some other pick you up and drive you to the place. We like to go to the grocery store and like the freedom of the car. Driving is not hard on the island.
