I stripped an old 'Dale down with 1) time - 10 years of wear and tear  2) fine grain sand paper.  Also broke out  the dremel (gently laddie...) now and then.  Stripping and repainting a bike was very rewarding I thought.  Had a lot of fun with it.  (Finished product shown in part in my user pic.)

Don't encourage Special K to show you all of his toys.  That upload would likely shut down the server.      Don't get me wrong, they are SWEET!

Rennen Rollenlager Angle
Published (2008-11-15 08:50:00)
i used that tensioner before the eno...very solid!  if the chain is crossing it at an angle, something is certainly bent...if not the hangar, perhaps the tensioner itself, or the axle bolt for the rubber wheel?  if the chain is just off-center in the wheel channel, you can adjust the lateral position of the wheel by moving the spacers on either side of it around.  probably all of this is obvious...

My latest (new-old) SS. All hail the Holstein! Was an old SS (Kona Kaboom) I had sitting around. Used to be my main ride before I got a custom rig. Stripped and re-painted the frame, cleaned up some parts, got some new ones.

I'm riding a 2002 Santa Cruz chameleon with a Truvativ stylos crankset (and paired bottom bracket), a SS chain, 32 front chainring, 18 rear cog. Everything is in great condition, but I am getting a slight click or tick (whatever) every rotation (faster i pedal, the faster it clicks, not louder though). It's not a creak and it's not very loud. It's as if I have a little twig in there or ...

I've been using a Rennen Rollenlager on my converted SS road bike for ~1 year - no real problems, but I've noticed that the chain isn't tracking straight over the pulley. I have it setup where the Rennen is pushing up on the chain to take up slack. I thought that maybe somehow the derailleur hanger was misaligned, but I checked that and it appears to be spot on, and there weren't any ...

I made the mistake of borrowing a Gary Fisher Rig tinking that I was going to hate SS. Wrong ! So wrong that I made the big jump into single speedom by buying a Surly 1x1 frame and rigid fork. I must say that I was inspired by all of the Jabberwocky builds seen here. If anyone really cares and wants to make recommendations or even has an opinion on my 1x1 build I'd really appreciate...
