So, the obvious difference is they aren't nearly the same thing.
Basically a patch changes the features of some aspect of thhe phone, because all WebOS apps are simple Javascript files this is very simple.
An App is a divided, secure, collection of javascript files which can only interact with the phone through calls into the Mojo SDK. It just so happens apps can't change other apps because...

Is there a Google Sync for WinMo? You can use that to move all your contacts over to the Google cloud and your Pixi will pull it from there. Not sure about memos and text messages is likely impossible.

I have a German Palm Pre and i only have the limited app catalog problem and nothing else.
i opened many cards with no problem.
I web dotored mine and i have many patches and hombrew apps and i have no problems.
I wish if i can install Palm Catalog apps through Quick install tool using PC rather than going through Palm Apps catalog .. anybody knows how to do that and where can i ...

I have the same problem as you. The font is too small for me to read without pulling out my reading glasses everytime. I would love to know if it's possible to increase the font.

There's a thread about related sound issues on the Dev.Palm site.
According to Palm any issues from sound are usually a result from instantiating new audio objects rather than reusing one. So if this is the case it should be updated quickly (I can't imagine Sprint would wait patently for this issue to be resolved)

if you go into sounds and ringtones there is some blue lettering that says rings and alerts tap on it and set it to sound and vibrate
