It is true that the issues discussed on this thread aren't a Pre issue specifically but more of a Sprint issue. However, Sprint changed it's policies with the Pre/Pixi in mind and thus mainly effect Pre owners. Sprint does not have the same policy for other Smartphones such as the Treo.

Roaming is charged only on plans that do not include a free roaming option. Primarily that is the older plans where it wasn't included but needed to be attached separately for an additional charge. The new plans (Including the plans the Pre/Pixi work with) include free roaming, but you are limited in the amount you can use (50% of your overall minutes, or 800 on a Simply Everything plan). If you go over that amount there are no charges....

You should be able to add another line. However, they might ask y ou to pay more for the phone up front. Since they are subsidizing the phone, they have way too much risk if they charge you only $10 more a month for the additional line.
I think if you want to add another line to your account, you can, but just gotta pay more for the Pre.

are you at the 1 yr mark or 2?
if you are at the 2 yr mark Id say your chances are pretty good, But at the 1yr. probably not unless you get a really sympathetic sprint agent.

I think it's like 20 cents a minute to forward your number, but Sprint has a lot of different plans, you may want to call them.

I have the same problem where I drop calls and never really have a spectacular signal. This seems to help me, and it's what my friend, who manages a sprint corp store, says to do.
Go into your phone app, then click on preferences. Once it is open try updating both the PRL and the network settings. (prl is the preferred roaming lost)
This should immediately increase your signal a little ...
