I think it's because of
Tokushima prefecture, 2.5 hours by bus from Osaka and Kyoto..
In August in the summer, it's home to the largest dance festival in all of Japan, Awa Odori!.. In my opinion, there is no where in the world people are partying harder for 4 days straight in August!..
Home to several beaches, for swimming and surfing!!..
Home of the start of the Shikoku 88 Temple ...

I have to admit that I don't remember how much I paid for the room but if you follow the link on my page you can check the rates. It looks like a double room is about 16000
JPY these days.

Kyoto-eki kanko annaijo will direct you to the many ryokans around the eki. If you can afford it, I'd recommend the reasonably priced businessman's hotels (they are for men and/or women). Then to be smallish rooms but you only sleep there, i.e., you spend the other 16 hours out of the room touring around. Check out the Lonely Planet's book
on Kyoto. They will most likely have both ryokans ...

It's not necessary to get Yen prior to your trip. There's an ATM machine at the airport, located a short walk from baggage claim.
You can also use your credit card. Even if your cc charges you conversion fees, it's still cheaper than going to a
currency exchange.
If you must pay cash, you'll need anywhere between $12 and high $20's to get downtown Tokyo (1 - way).
Food isn't as ...

My daughter is going to Japan on her honeymoon. Her hotels, most transportation and a few meals are already paid for. How should she pay for any purchases, meals, etc.? Should she purchase Yen before her trip? Will she need Yen, or can she just use credit or
debit cards? Since my husband and I are paying for the trip, we want her to be prepared. TIA

I have booked with No.1 Travel, they provide discounts for foreigners. They are affiliated with H.I.S. Travel, which services more Japanese than foreigners. If you visit
Tokushima, you shoud stay at Tokushima Apartment Hotels, just google it!

Sorry, haven't tried that specific tour. Hope your
first trip to Japan was a great experience. I used to travel there a few times a year for business, but with the down economy, I haven't been back recently. I long to go as it's such a great country!
