**bump** Hopefully someone answers this question! Mpigford- have you looked at the Go Pro Hero cameras yet? They have come out with one that shoots in HD now. I'm curious to know if it shoots
broadcast quality.

I think my problem is solved. I was given a SONY HDV 1080i/miniDV with shot gun mic today.
Wish me well at the California State High School Rodeo this Saturday. This camera is used but in good condition.

if all you are missing is XLR inputs, I would save the money.... the HV series are great cams. You can always just get an XLR shoe attachment, or a simple XLR to 3.5mm cord so you can plug in your fav XLR mics etc into the HV* 3.5mm input. the
cords are only $10

set in stone. I seem to remember getting 500mb files or such and they were fine with it. Just make sure that when you export you're using the Adobe Media Encoder and the H.264 compression. (File, Export, then the media encoder should be in the pop ...
