I've thought about this a bit more. along with some excellent insights via PM. (references to narcotics notwithstanding ) I think its because in a normal career, you earn more because your peers give you a pay rise. they have deemed you to be worthy of more money. In trading, I effectively decide my own worth. and weirdly, my inability to trade above a certain size may mean I have issues about what I am "entitled" to...

Oxford University academic pledges to give to charity all yearly earnings above £20,000 for the rest of his career. "I was living very happily as a student and worked out what I'd need to continue living like that through my life - or a little bit better, to allow some room for improvement - and then I worked out how much I could do with that amount of money. Dr Ord said said he was happy with his life and did not mind missing...

Good quote..

Once social change begins, it cannot be reversed. You cannot uneducate the person who has learned to read. You cannot humiliate the person who feels pride. You cannot oppress the people who are not afraid anymore. We have seen the future, and the future is ours.

Emotions of winning and losing -...

Once you have found/designed a trading edge that delivers a desired return over a sample of times it sets-up in all market conditions, the battle is then with yourself-to develop the robustness to execute it in such a way that it actually delivers. 2. Greed and Fear are the 2 constant emotions connected with trading, they can act together or alone , ...

Like many other difficult things in life, trading take times to learn and become successful at - allow anywhere from 12 months to 3 or 4 years to become profitable - if it was much less than that then everyone would be doing it.
