2009 College Football Predictions
Published (2009-11-25 21:03:05)
On ESPN's College Gameday Season Preview this morning, Lou Holtz picked Florida to UPSET Notre Dame in the national championship game. Has he gotten senile? Lee Corso picked Texas over Florida, and Robert Smith and Kirk Herbstreit picked Florida over Texas. So I guess it's unanimous that Florida will be in the big game. Let the debate begin.

Did Oswald Act Alone?
Published (2009-11-24 12:16:00)
It's a timeless story with so many points of view and many of them incredible persuasive. It all starts with COULD Oswald have fired all the shots that were fired that day. Like i said the documentary, cant remember the name, broke it down with "experts" on how it was not that hard with Oswalds expertise with that rifle to do the deed himself. What does mean? Nothin ,cause there's a 1000 books and documentaries...

I met Uga (one of them, at least) in Savannah, Ga., when he was out for his morning walk. I even got to shake his paw. Can't remember the name of the attorney who has raised all the Ugas. I guess that's a new category: Most famous animal you've met.

California student fee (tuition)...
Published (2009-11-25 14:40:00)
I was curious about the furor over tuition increase and did a little inflation check. Current in-state tuition at CA and OK public universities are compable. When I matriculated at Okla A&M in 1949, basic tuition was $4 / credit hour up to 12 hours maximum = $48/semester. Additional hours no charge. I usually took 20 hours/ semester, reducing my cost to $2.40/credit hour. Current Okla State tuition is about $135/ credit hour, no free...

I'm poor at math, but I can subtract. If St. Augustine was settled in the early 16th century, and Jamestown, Va. by 1609 or so, why do primary schoolbooks make so much of pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock, and that as a first setllement? The Mayflower, the names of Alden and Standish, the Thanksgiving? They didn't arrive until 1619.

I suspect the final game will be SEC vs. Big XII because those two conference's teams will be the first to get in with one loss. Texas will underachieve again. It doesn't take a genius to see a pattern there.
I pick Florida vs. Oklahoma.

I would hope that the students realize that the repeal of Prop 13 would go a long way towards alleviating the tuition problem. In the 30-odd years since California has gone from one of the great educational models going to one of the worst ( high schools now rated ahead of only Mississippi, or something of the sort?). Strip out elemental f unding and guess what you get? Another visitation from ...

Did you know that people park on the driveway and drive on the parkway?
OK, OK, real fact: Airplane 'black boxes' are really orange. They are referred to as black because they are typically that color when found in the charred remains of the crash.

Oh brother. Uga has the sweetest doggie life possible. I like how they're not even trying to claim he is treated bad, just that the very existence of bulldogs is evil.

As always, there are a number of local favorites who deserving candidates for the Heisman but winner will be Colt McCoy (assuming Texas goes undefeated, which I am predicting) He just missed last year and Tebow already has his.

How come pre-1930 baseball players such as Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Honus Wagner and Walter Johnson all look like grandfathers in their publicity photographs? No wonder they called George Herman Ruth "Babe".
