The kit is going to take the same time to install as any other BL kit, as they all require you to do the same thing. It takes me 3 hours to do the kit, but I know someone else who took 3 days (you know who you are, heh heh heh...) Of course, he'll tell you he was spending all his time playing with his r/c car lol

I don't have this problem yet but my FJ's VIN does come before the production change date. Wondering that if I haven't had any problems yet that it means I'm safe..or should I go ahead and have it replaced while I am still within my warranty period? anyone....??

Could have but doubt it, I always make sure not to touch the bulb and wear those blue rubber gloves when replacing bulbs.

Cruise control just quit
Published (2009-11-05 02:49:00)
Figured it out. Turned out that when I had to work on my hand controls and switch them out they were just barely causing the break lights to come on shutting off the cruise control. I adjusted the tension on them and problem fixed. It was so slight that the breaks were not dragging but just enough to flick on the lights and shut down cruise. Thanks for the help, glad it was a simple problem.

Drive train slop.
Published (2009-11-06 05:58:00)
Ahhhh. That's what I'm looking for. I just wanted to see what others had to say. Didn't wanna hear that was excissive chain strech or the ring and pinion. Now I can look farther into things. My Heep was horrible, but it always got me home, can't complain. The FJ has 60 thousand on it and that seems waaaay to early for drivetrain problems. Thanks ---Joe---

You never know, they may do it as a "Good Will" portion of their warranty service. Sometimes it seems to sink faster than other times. Or maybe it's me, but in the end, it's on the floor. I have an appointment for Tuesday, I'll bring the tsb with me.

Re-Gearing and new Tires for DaToy

If I had given it more thought I would have come up with that answer. The speed will be the same on both the left and right with the lock engaged... Hence A-Trak will never engage.

In my opinion, it is not necessary for the average 4WD truck; it is expensive for the relatively few times you will really need it - but my point is, that when you've already got the diff completely torn down for new gears, the extra labor (or cost of...

Re-Gearing and new Tires for DaToy
Published (2009-11-08 17:46:00)
The lefty is in my very near future. I already placed the order. I have the complete set of rear 4.56 with mini kit. I just didn't buy the front because of funds and my indecision on the locker. When you add it all up it just gets very expensive. I might just leave out the locker for now and look for a used one to install in the future.

Available Air Idea
Has anybody thought about, making a air carring system out of sliders, they are Tubular, make them in such a way that they are sealed with the ability to fill them with air or nitrogen, them use them to air up your tires after off road use.

If I pull up on the height adjustment handle four or five times to get the seat where I want it, by the end of the week it is back down to the bottom. Does this happen to anyone else?

Well you're certainly approaching it the right way, figuring out exactly how every change in tires and gears would affect the truck compared to stock. In fact that's pretty nearly exactly how I decided on my new gears. With that kind of good preparation and planning, you will be very happy with new gears. Good luck with your decision and install.

Ive noticed it for quite a while and never drove another manual FJ, but there seems to be a excessive ammount of slop from/in the T-case to the rear or in the rear. If i grab the drive shaft and twist it back and forth, to me it moves more then it should. If Im stopped just idling and I lift my foot off the clutch semi quickly (not near the point of stalling) it shocks and bangs the whole ...

Your steering wheel's position sensor is throwing off the computer. It measures the angle of the wheel in order to anticipate how you're steering. It's input does not match the relative speed of your wheel sensors, so the computer turned the features off.
Get your truck re-aligned.

For the prior model years there was a plate that you removed from the seat back, inserted the bolt through the arm and tightened. Then you place a cover over the bolt hole on the arm.

First, hello fellow FJ owners. I have the title to a 2008 Sandstorm 4x2 box stock cruiser with only a skid plate added so far. I seldom see the truck, as it is in Seguin, Texas where my daughter goes to college.
This is our 4th Toyota, and by far the one that stimulates the most conversations. Our daughter cannot fill...
