Good luck with the headlight conversion. I'd see if VisionX planned on comming out with anything. Here was the previous comparison I saw and didn't really come away impressed. Perhaps another mfg. may have a better setup. Quote: FJNewb previously said: Here is a comparison. Not really sure what you mean about quality light vs. quantity? Imo safety is heavily dependent upon what you can see on the road which is tied to both quantity...

You can engage the locker in 4H with a simple jumper wire mod. Do a search. HTH, Sean

Arb Locker Gear Help
Published (2009-11-28 08:13:00)
PM'ed you Frank, but you can test the front locker without any stress by putting all four corners of the truck securely up on jack stands or a lift, starting the truck, and put the transmission in neutral. Rotate one front tire by hand; on an auto tranny model it will have no effect on the other front wheel. Shift the transfer case into 4-high, and rotate one front tire again; now the opposite front tire should rotate in a direction...

I guess I just chimed in because worry a little when people start looking at suspension characteristics like flex as some sort of end-in-itself, rather than a means-to-an-end.

No, you can use the stock differential and axle housing. The ARB air locker just replaces the stock ring gear carrier.

Winch hook stay / keeper
Anyone know of any winch hook "stay" or "keeper" that works in conjunction with hawse fairleads?
I've seen keepers that hold the winch hook 90 degrees / flush to roller fairleads, but nada for the hawse fairleads.
Thanks for the advice.

Please show me your video camera mounts.
I really want a sturdy, adjustable mount for holding my Video camera so I can get video from the ****pit view. I haven't really found anything, so I just use a standard tripod and Jimmy-Rig it with straps. It works, but is not the easiest to install. Plus you can't have a passenger when it is in...

Ultimate off road mod
I think the ultimate off road mod you could make to an FJ is to attach one of these to the back bumper. ROKON Anyone have one?

If you are in 4 lo all the driving aids are off. What you are describing is just how an open diff works. Do you have a rear locker? how about A- TRAC? With both of those on you should have all 4 wheels going.

Congrats on the new Green! You might want to spray some Fluid Film on the underside of your rig before the de-icer gets to it.

Vision X should pay me for as much as I talk about their lights. I have a bunch of their lights. None of them were damaged in the wreck, so they will all be going on to the new rig when it gets here in a couple weeks.
I put a lot of mods and money into the Fungi Finder, and without question, their lights are my favorite modification. On the FF, I had a 22" Xmitter (single stack), and ...

Also just an FYI. Not sure how many have seen the fitting they use on the 08's for the transmission, but here it is. Slightly different than the breather that they used on the 07 models.

Exactly! Always use a snatch block when at all possible. Much eaiser on the winch and works better to get you out than a straight line pull. ...

when you get the remote unspool it all the way then wind it back in with a load on the line. That should get rid of the mess.
