Power up in your car is magic.

Err I drove a 2.4 Surf when I got my first one in Welly NZ and got 280 to a tank as there are hills.. big hills... mountains if you will. Aside from where I am writing this I have a 1UZ powered Surf that gets given death, Wifey has a 2.4 TD 2 door surf that cost $50. Both do almost 500 to a tank. You can ask Red what the "Bitch" goes like, I wont let him drive it as I know I won't get her back _________________ Petrol and Diesel...

Halfway through the waiting of the tank. I have bought rear coils: Kings 2" lifted progressive. Picked them up early this week, they were used only for one year as he went for 100 series coils. I am still not sure which exhaust I want: 2.5" or 3". Balancing fan
Published (2009-11-28 05:39:00)
On both of the cut down fans I have used you can not visibly see the difference between the blades but you definitely see a wobble when at revs. The clearance for the vanes/channels in the viscous clutch is very small. By the looks of my old clutch it does not take much of an imbalance for the vanes/channels to make contact and wear. _________________ Why do I keep paying mechanics to break my cars? Published (2009-12-04 18:29:00)
Thanks for the tip Johnny, but I don't have a welder, less a shed to work in. I went to a Toyota, ARB and a diff place for help, but as it was late in the afternoon on a friday, no one could help. I'll probably be fine for the weekend though as I put in the exact amount specified. I've got a new plug now, so next week I'll see if someone can weld on a bolt and get it off. Thanks _________________

Busted Speaking of lifting... what's the legalities in QLD of ball joint spacers and diff drop in the front end? Thinking 40mm was not high enough but don't want to compromise the CVs. Thinking I need another 25mm lift with ball joint spacers, diff drop spacers and coil spacers in the back. Anyone sell a kit of all of the above? Exaust mounts are normally on the chassis but there could be a couple on the body, have a look and see. I would do the body first but check your local laws about what you want to do all up , for example 50mm body lift + 50mm suspension + bigger tyres. The laws in each state change but generally you can only do a 2" lift before needing engineering also. There is lots to research for...

I remember reading a link about small amounts such as driving in rain and it said the water was dispersed by the mesh in the inlet and directed out of channels that vent where the snorkle head clamps on. If the young bloke puts the hose into the snorkle it'll go into your airfilter housing...simple solution is to teach him about it or if he's too young keep him away from it ...

There is a factory 16 X 6J listed in the EPC. 42601-35730 is the part number. Note that most rims have a JJ style. I'm not sure exactly what this all means so do some research as I believe that the JJ style is a much better rim. Unless your aiming for a 200 odd ltr capacity you don't necessarily need to go that way. I cant find the link atm but I did come across a mob down in Victoria who did a 127L tank that replaced your existing one. Looking at the Long Ranger site the TA37S appears to sit above the spare tyre itself. As for the rear bar, I'm not aware of any "factory" bars available other than the ARB and ...

how are you going to pick up 5x 33" tyres for just $300? see if you can borrow a set of 33's before you change your diffs; or at least, when you buy your tyres run them on your current diffs because it should be able to handle it. From my readings the 3.0L can push this size rubber with out too much loss of power (using standard diff ratios), it is with the 2.4 (as always) that there is a problem...

When I put new (silicone) ones on my car (about 4 years ago now. Wow is it that long?) I transferred one of my old ones (rubber) to the back - still works reasonably well, seeing as I don't use it all that much. Getting close to a new one, so I'll do the same when I replace the front ones.
