Bribing El Cid

The Pearl Poet wrote: I have been playing as Spain, and although its too late now because I killed him, I was wondering if anyone has succeeded in bribing el Cid. I would not be opposed to cheating because historically he was fanatically loyal to king Alfonso of Castille even though that same king had him exiled. I wanted to bribe him using the cheat "force_diplomacy accept" which various sites, including ign, have on their...

Mods: SS vs. LTC
Published (2009-12-16 17:06:56)
I'm finally, after a few years of MTW2 ownership, going to try a mod. I did research at the twcentre forums, and have sort of narrowed it down to LTC Gold: Kingdoms, and Stainless Steel. Which one is "better?" What are the pro's and con's of the two?

Stainless Steel 6.0

Then the answer is simple! You either have no general in the settlement, or the general doesn't have the permission to train professional or feudal units. You can see what units each general can train by checking out his traits. Your king can train all types of units. If this kind of stuff annoys you, reinstall SS without Byg's Grim Reality submod.

Mods: SS vs. LTC

Personally, I prefer the Retrofit Mod and Grand Unit Addon Mod combination. It's not a total conversion, but it adds features from Kingdoms into the M2TW Grand Campaign, along with dozens of units from Kingdoms, and also units that were hidden in the original game code and never enabled. There's also a Stone Fort Mod that allows you to build the stone forts from the Britannia campaign instead of the ordinary wooden ones. All three...

Doesn't the enemy archers change target to your Mathrafal horsemen and take them down then? Interesting tactics!

Patch 1.2
Published (2009-12-17 17:10:01)
All Further to previous email, I've installed M2TW onto a second laptop. I decided to patch it 1.2, but when I run it, I get the patch 1.2 splash screen, correctly. However, upon selecting Play all I get is a black screen and nothing. What's the best thing to do? I've been through the forum and can't see this problem repeated elsewhere. Thanks

I'm not sure what to say, considering the other responses. The Retrofit mod is the only one I've installed. I did it so I would have five games and one disc when I traveled. I've had hours and hours of great game play. I've always thought each campaign was unique for each faction, and how it went was decided by your decisions in the first five to ten turns. You certainly need to have the latest patches but as for the game....

The retrofit mod is the semi offical update patch that is the final work by
some of the original people. And it works fine.

You've depleted your unit pool from the sounds of it, have you also go enough money to but the units?
Wait a few turns.

Hmmmm! I may try that one of the days.

Welcome to the forums!
MTW is a "what-if" scenario game- it deliberately takes liberties with historical accuracy. Obviously some elements need to be in palce, such as
historical starting positions, but a real historical accuracy nut playing as Wales would deliberately let England conquer them :/
So even if the Welsh did not employ much heavy cavalry or lacked economic development doesnt ...

Calling Bulgaria one of the major powers is an overstatement, seeing as you are Bulgarian, you're clearly being bias and this thread will be closed
