2 things. Either you're playing a mod that hasn't updated to 1.5 yet, or you failed at
patching. Which mod are you trying to play?

I just installed win7 HP x64 yesterday along with bf2 and I did pretty much exactly as you posted except for disabling UAC.
I also had to manually install the
punkbuster services using their installer utility and disable "desktop composition" on the bf2.exe compatibility due to aero causing graphics glitches in the game.

A few people have mentioned problems similar to this after patching to 1.5. Even though the
version number is correct on the login screen the patch may still have failed. One option is to re-download the 1.5 patch and try re-patching. Good luck

Well, given it's a
BSOD, it's going to be something taking down a piece of hardware as it crashes. What OS are you using?
Has BF actually installed, or does it crash when attempting to install?

You will probably have to install a mod like
ffolkes unlocks mod http://www.filefront.com/11776234/FF...-Unlocks-v1 .4/ you might need to install BF2 patch 1.41 for this to work.
