How good of a gaming card is this
Published (2009-12-29 00:41:00)
Yes, you are wrong. As rolli said the card is a bit weak for that resolution. The chart is to show you how various cards perform at that resolution, which is slightly higher than 1080p. If you look around it may still be possible to find an HD4870 for a price similar to the HD5750 but then you will lose DX11 compatibility. Exactly how much can you spend?

I would say no, it made by machines, better bring your mobo to the professionals and hear what would they say to you. At your case i would say that your mobo is defective... Just bring it to service center to make it sure whether your mobo is broke or not...

Picking a 24' Monitor

I am planning on getting that exact once once I am home from the holidays. My buddy had this exact one and for gaming, it is awesome. Virtually zero input lag and very fast. Looks really good. Granted it is still a TN panel so the color is what you expect from a nice TN panel and viewing angles.

That Radeon 9600 would be AGP and physically couldn't be installed in that
pc if you tried. In fact the Geforce 9100 onboard graphics perform the same
if not a little better.
In order for us to make a graphics card recommendation we need to know a
few things. What is your resolution? What is your power supply's wattage?
And what are some games that you play?

Install the latest drivers:

I'm 90% sure the card only having 256mb of memory is the problem but it
won't hurt to install these.

The TV tuner card acts like a network card but for TV, it lets your
computer receive the signal, you then watch it on your computer through
media center or some equivalent program. It will display on the monitor you
have hooked up.
When you have a discrete card installed, use its output ports rather than
the motherboard's ports otherwise it wont be ...

gaming performance is the end result anyways, so

and memory size isnt really a key factor, 512M is enough up to 1680x1050
depending on the game, 1G beyond that point... (if the core has enough
muscle to actually run anything at those resolutions)
and (G)DDR3 is way better than DDR2, even for the low end cards. So 512
DDR3 is better than 1G ...

gtx 260 by a wide margin.
Build it yourself though, and 3.7 on water is nothing. You can hit that on
air rather easily.

No one knows exactly when they will be released nor their performance or
pricing. If the HD5850 fits your needs and you can afford it I wouldn't
hesitate.

Where are you buying from? The US or other country? Are you limited to a
store or do you have websites to select from?
The 9800GT and 4830 are somewhat older cards. The GTS230 is not all that
powerful. What do you intend to use this card for? Also, what are your
other system specs?

At $100 I would recommend the GT 240.

Needs no 6-pin power supply, will do Crysis high at 1204 x 768, medium on
higher resolutions.

The GTX275 would be significantly better, the 9800GTX is slightly weaker
than a GTS250 and a GTX275 is quite a bit stronger.

No, you don't "need" a card that supports DX11. You can run Dirt2 with DX9
and DX10 cards as well. DX11 doesn't offer any particular graphical
improvements over DX10 at the moment since it's still immature.
At the moment, only ATI has DX11 cards - the 5x00 series. ie. 5750, 5770,
5850, 5870, 5970...
Nvidia doesn't have DX11 cards, and won't have any until at least March
2010 when Fermi is ...

The CPU will be your main limitation on how powerful of a GPU you can
actually use. I am thinking a 4890 might be on the high side of what you
can utilize, but overall would probably be a pretty tight gaming choice.
You haven't mentioned your PSU, though, and that is important. If it is an
HP prebuilt computer, odds are it won't have enough juice in your PSU to
run a 4890. For 200, you can get a...
