Then don't use the catylist. I use the cd driver only. The latest stuff is calibrated for vista or windows 7. I tried the catylist control center, and it wouldn't work with xp pro sp3 and my video card, a 2400xt.

You should be able to do so yeah. There's just no guarantee it works at 1600Mhz. Worst case scenario you'll have to manually configure it to run at a slower speed.

Sounds to like you having the exact same problem I am having. Refer to a couple of threads just lower "inconsistent reboots".

Well, their dime, your time. Probably worthwhile though. if what they send doesn't fix it, you'll end up with all new parts anyway. If what they send DOES fix it, I'd still consider replacing the PSU just to avoid any sudden unpleasant surprises. After all, bad waveforms from the existing PSU may have damaged your current mobo or RAM in the first place.

New sata dvd with old motherboard

I think what you're saying is your mobo does not have SATA but you have a PCI e-SATA card or something like that - correct? If so: unless it has an internal SATA socket, you may be out of luck. I don't think there are external-to-internal adapters; that kind of defeats the purpose of e-SATA.

The reason for my macro question here is because with 4 memory banks
there's no way to evenly distribute the memory, there being no 3GB ( 2x2)
modules nor 1.5GB modules (4x1.5).

Yes both Asus and Gigabyte have a board prepared and there are reviews
(professional) out on them. Imagine the boards to hit shelves any day now.
You probobly should read the reviews about the limits on Pci-express lanes.
Wait they are on the shelves already.

Hello and welcome to the forums :)
Well first of all if you are going to get i5 or CPUs like i7 860 or i7 870
you have to go for 1156 socket(P55 motherboards)but for all other i7 CPUs
you have to go for 1366 socket(X58 motherboards),the difference between
these 2 sockets is that socket 1366 supports future 6 core CPUs but it more
expensive,and since an i5 750 can handle CS4 and Premiere fine,so ...

I have an Asus Maximus III Gene (the mATX one!) and I bought memory (OCZ
Platinum) that was not listed on the compatibility list with Asus. Maybe I
got lucky... or maybe that's just an overly conservative (or just
out-of-date) compatibility list.
Anyways... you can find people have problems with EVERY type of RAM if you
look hard enough. What sort of return policy will you be dealing with?

Asus Mobos and GPUs to be Rebranded as "Pegatron"
This is not what will happen. Here is the real "source" for TweakTown's
flawed interpretation:

Currently, Pegatron is a division within ASUS. ASUS is spinning-off
Pegatron completely and will be a separate company (partly owned by ASUS)
that does the actual manufacturing. ...

Well, people here need to know what motherboard you're using, before they
can even provide any sort of help.

Bad sound is usually an indicator that you're using the wrong drivers. How
are you sure that what you downloaded is for your hardware? Did you
download the drivers from the Asus support website?

Thats really unlucky, I'd be so p1ssed
I had a similiar thing happen to me, I was flashing my BIOS and my mum
turned the power off and after that the mobo did absolutely nothing, so i
got her to buy me an upgrade ( a ASUS P5Q-E) at the time.
Have you spoken to ASUS about the problem, maybe they know what the beep
means, Or maybe it says in the manual.
Good luck buddy hope it works out alright.

I understand when you buy something expensive, you try to make sure you are
making the right choice and that you are getting the worth of your money, I
understand this notion. We all are afraid of making mistakes which is why I
think it is best to just sit and wait till somebody else gets such an
expensive thing for you on your birthday or Christmas, then you don't have
any of these things to ...

A couple of things come to mind. The JEDEC standard for DDR2 RAM is 1.8V. A
lot of manufacturers think it is ok to ignore that standard as long as they
publicize it. "Whatever." For the error rate to decrease notably based on
increasing the RAM voltage does suggest it is RAM-related. It may have
passed testing, but consider replacing your RAM with some that runs on
1.8V. You can always push it ...

Well if the onboard installed correctly (no errors in device manager) and
the Titanium installed correctly I would guess what ever your listening
with is suspect, like the speakers try headphones.

If the board is for ddr3, then it's possible. Asus can be picky about the
ram. If in doubt, contact asus before ordering the board or look on asus
website for tested memory with this board.

If you can go a whole day, then heat buildup may be a problem, or a cheap
power supply that slowly overheats. It's winter where I live, so heat isn't
an issue this time of year. You've already done alot of troubleshooting;
next try is a new power supply or motherboard; and I mean new. Insist on a
brand new board, not a refurb. Same for the power supply. You can upgrade
your ps to a corsair 400w ...

Yes that RAM SHOULD work with it, i wouldn't worry too much. The double
channel memory you bought isn't meant for triple channel boards like the
asus you got, but normally it would just revert back to single channel.
Every motherboard is different so its not for sure but it should work.

My E8500 has the same spot, I thought it was thermal compound and tried
cleaning it. I came to the conclusion that it was designed that way, never
had any problems with the spot there.
