All HD5850s are the same card. They only differ in fan/heatsinks and price. Some have factory overclocks which can easily be duplicated(usually bettered) on your own with software.

A PCI-E x16 1.1 slot is fine for any single GPU card. You are fine.

1. Use direct links FFS 2. That is a bug/glitch unique to Crysis: Warhead, I have it too, it's usually caused by loading a bad save game (one where the camera is in an odd angle). I haven't seen it in Crysis though.

Normally i would look to your build, but as you have a good PSU and know
the system works otherwise, it very well may be the card. I have seen a lot
of defective ones recently (well, not a lot, but enough to know it is not
impossible). What I would suggest is reformat and reinstall windows just to
rule out Software and make sure you have the newest motherboard BIOS. Once
all that is done, if ...

If you are planning to crossfire eventually, then HD5770. Its not as fast
as the HD4890 but HD5770x2 definitely packs a wallop! Plus mention the
brand of your PSU. Its also important along with the ratings. And also your
screen resolution.

500W is the bare minimum for a 5850, have you tryed unpluging a few fans or
anything you dnt need, just to see if it boots.
I've never heard of Procase before, are they a quality brand? Does the PSU
have enough amperage to support your setup?

If you don't want to spend much the first thing you should do is drop the
water cooling. A good air cooler should be fine and much cheaper.

Look through this benchmark......look for your res...look at the
numbers...... then read the first paragraph of the conclusion
section.......... personally I would never buy a graphics card with a
128bit memory interface.

Try running everything in CCC as application settings or off. I don't lett
CCC decide anything, heh.
Also, the 5870 will be drawing more power than your 8800gts. Do you have an
older PSU that meets ratings, but perhaps has lost some of it's oomph?
Are you having any temperature issues?, Normally a high temperature is more
prone to cause artifacting and crashes, but it can't hurt to be sure.

that is not going to work.... any of it.
For 6 screens you would need the 5870 Eyefinity Six edition, that hasn't
been released yet. The newest 9.12 hotfix drivers enabled eyefinity for
crossfire setups, but I dont know whether it supports 6 screens (3 on both
cards) or just 3 on the 'master' card. You should check it out
nevertheless... I haven't bothered to dig in too deep in it...

28A on the 12V rail is horribly low for something that claims to be a 550W
PSU, the corsair 400CX offers 30A and you wouldnt run a 4890 off of that
would you?
That PSU calculator calculates the total power draw of the system, remember
that about 80% of the power a modern system uses is from the 12V rail, and
yours can only provide up to 336W from its 12V rail so you certainly dont
have enough ...
